What are the better devices for doing multiple sub EQs?

I'm looking forward to reviews of the one that SVS is making (but hasn't released yet). Check out page 3 of their newsletter - a PDF version is linked here.

How about that Audyssey MultEQ XT & MultEQ that is built-in to many of the Denon receivers now. Although a new receiver is a lot more than a Behringer Feedback Destroyer Pro FBQ2496 or Feedback Destroyer Pro DSP1124P or a QSC DSP-30. I am totally out of room under my tv so its going to be rack time, I like this one that pulls out and also turns 180 so you can get at the wires. http://eholovision.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=38

Always more things to buy with this hobby eh?

I was under the impression that the EQ algorithms in receivers like the Denons didn't adjust subwoofer frequencies. However, things are always progressing, so maybe they do now.

actually that Audyssey feature in the Denon is the same as the SVS/Audyssey AS-EQ1, so thanks the SVS will be the ticket

Anyone hear any news on the AS-EQ1?

I'm sure its still the status quo, but I'd like to express my impatience.

:p

I've got no news, but I wanted to share my agreement with your impatience!

Unfortunately, it seems that the AS-EQ1 is rated for dual subs, I have yet to get an answer whether it will handle more then that... or will you need more then 1, but it is rated for multiple seating locations, where the SMS-1 will mainly handle just 1 position.

I hope it will handle more then 2 subs, as I have been very interested in the unit... And will likely be going with more then 2 subs in my great room in the future...

The SMS-1 will handle 4 I believe, 3 RCA and 1 Balanced...
But know that it does not work in the Time Domain...

Here is a good thread with a link to another product... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1040178

Also I have a thread over there on the SVS unit with some great discussion about Sub EQ theory.

The idea with the AS-EQ1 is to use one unit with two subs properly placed and equadistant from the listening area. Thus 4 subs require 2 units.

The SMS-1 is virtually useless unless you have a more accurate way of measuring the response such as a 1/12th octave or better audio analyzer. I have never had any luck with the SMS-1 auto eq mode whereas Audyssey can get you pretty close and if the editor feature is built in and you have the right tools to measure the response, you can do wonders.

Thanks gene for stopping by, I have had pretty good luck with the SMS-1, but its obviously not the perfect sub EQ, but it sure did help with my less then ideal room.

Things are ramping up in the Subwoofer world, and we should be seeing some nice new products hitting the market... I am looking forward to the next years advances in technology...

Ditto Warp.

I've read thru that AVS thread, its a good read! Usually is when Sanjay gets involved, heh.

The SVS would be perfect for me, as I have 8 listening positions (though I've had 9 persons on a few occasions), and I don't ever, ever see myself having more than 2 subs. Only one for now as it is.

Speaking of, Warp, there wouldn't be any fear with using a 15-18 ft unbalanced connection, would there? I assume not.

I would also assume not. I'm using a 5m unbalanced connection with no problems at all. I bought the cable from SVS along with my sub. SVS also sells 15m unbalanced cables.

RCA sub cables can go quite a bit further then that... shouldn't be an issue whatsoever...

I am really interested in someone doing some tests of that HSU ULS-15 to see how it stacks up.... I really like the wireless part of that equation..... that really makes for great flexibility for subs....

I hope they make an outboard unit for different applications as well....

I have a 30' RCA running to my rear sub pair with no issues.

If one is willing to manually measure/configure, the Behringer DCX2496 can handle 6 subwoofers - applying independent EQ corrections to every unit individually.
