Damn this thing is huge! Im so excited I am ready to call out sick for the rest of the day from work. My Outlaw Audio M2200 will be here tommorrow and then its on! Does anyone have any suggestions as far as test movies for this monster? I looked on the SVS website to get some suggestions so I have those lined up but does anyone else have some good personal experience with different movies, even if you arent running an SVS sub. Thanks for the input, will give my thoughts tommorrow night. Cheers!

Terminator 3 has gobs of bass, War Of The Worlds is good, so is The Incredibles, and plenty of others I can't think of at the moment.

Wow Joe congrats on your purchase!!!!! I am sure you will be amazed. Check out some of the movies Glock recommended and be prepared for a ride of your life.:eek: I also would like to mention the movie Cloverfield due to the massive amounts of LFE. Looking forward to your initial impressions. Be sure to post some pics if you can.

Cheers,

Phil

You have to try the "darla" scene in Finding Nemo. It was what I used to find any loose objects in the house when I got my Ultra. It is something else! You can feel the pressure in the room. Its great for finding what picture frames or nick nacks need some cushioning from rattling or vibrating. I just play, adjust, repeat. And crank it up. Oh, when I now demo that scene to friends, I mute first because it goes right into the scene, I like to zip back a bit to work up to it. :D
Also, of course, theres Master and Commander for a good hit in the chest cannon percussion. I watched Top Gun in DTS 6.1 the other night, thats pretty cool if you like jets and some '80's music, especially the open titles.

Lord of the Rings - first 20min of Fellowship in DTS. Also, the Well scene in Balin's tomb.

Pirates of the carribean. The first one. The best movie I have heard yet for subwoofers.

WOTW,u571,T3 etc dont really even compare IMO.

So my initial impressions for the sub are... "I think we need a bigger amp..." It hits, just not what I have read an Ultra will do. I am powering it with an Outlaw Audio M2200 using 16ga wires from mono price. So far I have gone through Fight Club, working on burning other movies. But I do like it, just want to feel it more. BTW I have the sub positioned right behind my head behind my couch. Does my amp automtically know to go to 4 ohms or is there something I need to do? Thanks in advance.

So I have come to find out that 12ga wires are preferable, so I have to ask are 10ga wires overkill, because I want this thing to bang and 16ga just isnt cutting it. Thanks. And big thanks to JVGILLOW, even after the sale he is helping me out. Cheers, heavy bass here I come.

if the cost difference is negligible, go for the 10 gauge.

So I found one of the problems, BAD RCA CABLE! ARG... So I had to opt for a dynex from bestbuy, and whalaa. It is pumping pretty nicely now. I went ahead and ordered the 10 gauge speaker cables from BJC, so when those get here I will make my decision if I need more power or not. Till then I will sit through the horrid yet great sounding "Flight of the Phoenix". Cheers everyone and dont cheap out on interconnects, Im sure everyone knows that, but just a PSA.

Bad cables don't happen very often but it can be pretty frustrating when they do come along.

FOTP wasn't that bad... it had Dr. House after all :D
That was one of the movies I ran with the 200W amp and I was surprised that the thing wasn't distorting at the levels I was pushing it to. Ported enclosures can do quite a lot with even limited wattage available. The original SVS 20-39 PC sub came with a 190w amp then later on SVS upgraded to the BASH 300w one.
