Can you run two different inputs on a sub?

I currently have a HT setup with a receiver that is connected to my sub using the LFE input. However, I also have a small dac amp with boolselves that is connected to my laptop. Would it be safe to also connect that to my sub using the high level input? I wouldn't be running them at the same but I might sometime accidentally to so. Thanks

Not sure. Don't think it would hurt. Try it and see what happens. Your sub may not accept both a high and low level input simultaneously.

You might want to be a little more "sure" about what you're talking about before telling someone to try something.

For the OP, I can't recall ever seeing or hearing about a successful application of using both inputs.

It's no problem at all with my Martin Logan Abyss subwoofer. It's even suggested in the owner's manual. I can't imagine why it would be a problem on any subwoofer, but it doesn't hurt to contact the manufacturer.

I would take the advice and look in the owners manually on this one. Two different sources connected to one sub is something I haven't tried.

I just and called the manufacturer and they said that I shouldn't because of back feed. thanks though. Would using the zone 2 mode on my receiver be a good alternative? I would have to buy a long digital coaxial though

basically, i see this as an option:

from the pc soundcard/output, use a y-splitter to connect to the dac amp and to the receiver

but then, you'll have both pairs of speakers outputting the same signal, unless you can turn off the speaker A on the receiver everytime you want to use your laptop subwoofer.

or you can buy a cheap subwoofer for your laptop :)
