Now that training camp has begun, I officially have the football bug:). I can not wait for those glorious Sunday afternoons:D:). The purpose of this thread is to discuss anything football:). BTW the teams I follow are the defending superbowl champions the New York Giants:cool: in the NFC (take that New England:p) and the Buffalo Bills:eek::eek: in the AFC.

Yeah, I too am a bit anxious about the up-coming season. What I find really interesting is the Brett Favre situation. Hopefully, Brett will end up with a decent team. Anbody here heard anything new regarding this dilemma?

Cheers,

Phil

The Packers have been talking to the Jets and Bucs about a trade. They're trying to get a first round pick but will probably have to settle for less.

I can't wait myself....I am hoping my redskins are gonna do something or perhaps the ravens either or as long as a local team does well for once in years:eek:

I am so excited about the Saints this season. Vilma, Gay, Ellis, Shockey, and a (possibly) healthy Deuce could mean big big things.

It's going to take some time to get over this one. Why they did it I don't know. Injuries? Attitude? I still say big loss for Giants.

Rumors around the sporting world today.
Hmmmm...........interesting. I guess the Vikings are just SOL. It would have been very hard to see Brett go there anyways. At least, that is what the so-called sports experts say.

Cheers,

I'm actually happy that the Giants got rid of Shockey. I can't claim that we are more talented without him, but at least we can guarantee that our starting TE will play hard on every play and not give up to whine and complain with the ball still in the air!!

There have been allegations of the Minnesota Vikings tampering with Brett Favre. It is a tricky situation considered he is still under contract with Green Bay. It looks like the situation with Minnesota with Farve will become a league matter now since files of tampering have been charged by green bay against them. The only team I do not want Brett to go to is the Jets because my Bills are in that division.

From a talent standpoint, they are less at TE without Shockey. They do not have a proven tight end right now. I would have liked to see him stay. But I guess we do not know what goes on behind the scenes. There is no question he can be a distraction at times but there is no denying his talent. Maybe it got to the point where he was a cancer in the locker room. Who knows? The only thing I am afraid of is playing the Saints in the playoffs. The saints have quite the offense with McCallister, Bush, Shockey, Colston, Brees etc. The fact that Bush can spread out like a WR creates match up problems, do you double team Colston?. I can see Shockey having a pro bowl year with the Saints this year. This is a perfect fit for him.

Shockey didn't seem to fit in NO.

I'm confident that Payton and Brees, both no-BS high character guys with confidence and leadership abilities, will be able to handle Shockey just fine. Shockey is a player and seems to have little tolerance for any jackassery. Lucky for the Saints, Payton and Brees share the same outlook.

And it's worth noting that several Giants players have come out in the past few months saying glowing things about Shockey, saying they want him on the team, and saying that no one in the locker room (except Eli) has anything bad to say about him.

By the way, the Saints' 2007 first-round draft pick, Robert Meachem, had to sit out all of last year with a lingering knee injury.

Apparently he's at 100% right now and is tearing it up in training camp. He's looking to be our #2 guy behind Colston.

So by opening day, we should have last year's #4 offense, PLUS Shockey and Meachem. :D
