I want to ither go with The dayton or the velodyne The velodyne will cost me about $148 more than the Dayton but its 100watts rms makes this to good of a deal to pass up. I dont know which one I would buy because The Velodyne is a quality sub but I dont know if it will give me that ultimate "oooump" factor and i heard it distorts alot, but the dayton sub seem to go deeper than the velodyne and its cheaper. which one is better?

which driver on the dayton? the velo is a great space restricted sub, but 8" is still 8"(just ask my fiancees boyfriend:D) For the money, the larger dayton should provide more reward, just take some time in the setup(for either).

its not an issue unless you sit the sub on the tv;) my hgs isnt video sheilded... the dayton will give you what you want.. and btw the velo probably has less thd than the dayton, but neither will play an audiable role.

The Dayton will demolish the little Velodyne. It would not likely even be close if the listening material extends below 30hz. An 8" sub is very limited as far as what it can do with deep bass. The only reason to choose a sub that small is if you are very space-limited and are prepared to give up deep bass.

The 8" can indeed play deep bass, it just cannot do it at the same level of output as the 12". Surface area is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to low frequency output at high levels.

The Dayton would be a much better option in my opinion.

Okay I'm definitely going with 12inch Dayton, space is not an issue with me I just considered the velodyne because for $672 you wouldn't be able to get that type of performance for that price. Well I'm sure the Dayton will rock my living room considering my living room is about 16 by 22 with 8 an foot ceiling but the minor drawback for me is that I have no experience with speaker building, despite how easy people say it is to make, I just cant afford to mess up the kit.

Those kits are extremely simple. It should be no problem. Just take your time.
