Hey guys got a couple of questions for you.
On the Yamaha 2600 do you know if the hdmi in ports accepts the digital audio and what kind of up-scailer does it has. And the most important question is keep the pioneer 1015 or upgrade to the 2600. now i know the 2600 does not have the new surround formats, in which i do not care for right now, but would you call this and upgrade or a lateral move? btw i am getting this receiver for $575.

The RX-V2600 will accept audio via HDMI. It will only accept up to 5.1 PCM via HDMI, but has 7.1 analog inputs, and will not pass 1080p.

Yamaha receivers

If you want a new Yamaha receiver, check out the RX-V663 or 863 with all the latest HDMI features. The new Pioneer 1018 is also due out soon at a similar price point.

Exactly-I could not agree more. You summed it up quite nicely.

hey guys thanks for the quick replies but in the end i think the 2600 will suit my needs. I as stated before, i am not interested in Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. Ive
always wanted to get a yamaha receiver that has THX. Now i know that THX means nothing to most of you, but I like it and do use it. the yammi 663 and 863 are nothing short of awesome, but I DO NOT like the scene buttons on the receiver.

You may want to rethink that one. It won't be long and you will have very little choice given that BR won the war. I agree, however, both the 2600 and the 1015 are very good receivers, but the 663/863 is much more future proof. If you prefer not to go that route-each to their own I always say.

Cheers,

Phil

The RX-V2600 has HDMI and 7.1 analog inputs, so if you become interested a BD player down the road you can still enjoy Dolby True HD and DTS-HD. You just have to buy one that can output HD sound in LPCM (most BD players do) via HDMI or multi channel analog outputs.
