Does anyone out there know of someone that makes wallplates that will terminate 10AWG

?? I see they go to 14 thats about it. I don't want to run two sets of 14AWG wires to see the difference offered by 10AWG wire. any suggestions ?

You can probably use the 10AWG, just cut off the extra copper strands at the end that won't fit into the 14AWG post. You will still keep the benefit of running the lower gauge, that inch or so that you "trim down" has negligible impact on the impedance of the overall wire.

Thanks I was thinking the same thing .> Get the benefit of running lower gauge wire but trimming it at the plate.. The plates I have now are 14AWG.

I looked quickly at partsexpress.com and found these binding post inserts for wall plates that will take 10 AWG (they might have others, too). These might allow you to just swap out your inserts if you don't want to trim the cable at the connection.

Nice find, very nice .. I'll take back this stuff to homedepot. I paid to much for it anyways! Thanks again!

Glad to help! You can see that sites assortment of plates, inserts, and accessories here. You can also get to that page by going to their home page and doing a search on "wall plate".

I use those wall plates from PartsExpress. Because they use a binding post on both sides they will easily handle 10 Ga wire. You could even use banana plugs on the in-wall side if you want.

The reality is, unless your runs are hundreds of feet, you don't need 10AWG in wall...that is essentially why they aren't offered that way.

I successfully used Speakercraft wallplates with no need to strip down the copper.

That being said, I learned from this experience to NOT use 10AWG but instead run 14/4 as its much easier to terminate 14/4 to Volume Controls and you have a redundent pair should the wire get snagged in the wall. 14/4 effective gauge is 11AWG when paralleled together, only 1 more than 10AWG and IMO is a better inwall solution than 10AWG.
