Currently have a Luxman integrated amp and Luxman components with Infinity Studio Monitor 150's bought in late 1980's

Ready for new surround receiver and hopefully "smaller" speakers without comprimising the sound. I really love these Infinity's but hoping technology has made something smaller, but still with awesome music.

Considering Yamaha V1800 receiver and B&W 684 speakers.

Would love a McIntosh or Marantz, but out of price range at moment.

Been out of the Hi-Fi arena for a while, suggestions welcome......thanks

Excellent receiver, and speakers. But my suggestion to you is to get out and audition as many speakers as you can, to find speakers that sound good to your ears. Everyone has different preferences. Bring CD-DVD's your familiar with and take your time. Have fun with it.

I agree with above, opinions dont count much with speakers as we all have a certain sound we like and we dont like....its a very personal choice.

That's the AVR I would get. Now go listen to all the B&W, Paradigm and Dynaudio speakers in your price range, pick one and get back home and enjoy.

Speakers.....

Thanks to all, I agree, I've listened to B&W at one store, Klipsch at another, then Velodyne at the last store. Of course, no store seems to have all to compare. One of the salesman was really putting down the Klipsch, yet I thought the in-wall R-3650 sounded pretty good.

The important thing is the 30-Day Return policy without a Restocking Fee!

All speakers will sound differently in your own room than in the stores. Just make sure you can always return them without being penalized.

When you get your new receiver, please compare the 2Ch stereo sound of the new receiver with your Luxman Amp. The new receiver should sound just as good, but just be sure they also have a No-Restocking-Fee 30-Day Return Policy.:D
