Speaker setup for THX 7.2

I have the Jamo D7 THX Ultra2 setup, but am moving it to another room.

The current room has 2 speakers on the back wall, which is 3 feet behind the seating. 2 speakers immediately to the left and right of the seating area. 3 speakers in front (left, center right), and then the two subs in the front. This setup works great and I've spent many long hours in this room enjoying movies.

Now we're turning this room into a guest room/office so all my equipment is moving to another room.

The existing room is more of a living room, which doesn't have a door but flows into other common area.

I can place the rear speakers on the rear wall, but the couch would be right under them. Then as far as the left and right surround speakers, there is no wall to the right of the couch. Should I raise it up and attach it with an L bracket to the ceiling, or what you guys suggest?

Does anyone have these speakers setup? How do you have them placed?

You could mount the RS from the ceiling, but depending on how much open area there is on the right side (so that its not in the foot path), I would buy a speaker stand, that would be tall enough to match the hieghth of the LS mounted on the wall.
As for the BS, leave them out, unless you can gain the 3ft you had in the other room.

In your opinion, if I'm not going to be setting up the speakers in the true 7.2 configuration, should I just sell the set and get a good 5.1 setup?

I guess it would depend on finding a 5 channel speaker system you think is as good as the current system.
Another thought, try setting up two surrounds on both sides, either both facing out, or in a dipole/bipole config. That is one facing forward, one back. I've never tried it, but who knows, might sound alright.

With the couch against the back wall, I usually suggest a 5-channel setup. You could set up a 2.1 system in the office with the extra speakers/sub.

Not a bad idea, but I think I'm better off selling the 2.1 and saving the money.
