I've been looking at the Axiom M22tis and the VP 100, but read some bad reviews on the center, as well on the upgraded center VP150. I've now started looking at the Ascend CBM 170s and the CMT 340 center. Looks like this center is far more desirable. Any comments on this comparison?

I just bought the Axiom Epic 80 500 system which includes the VP150. I think the center channel sound very good though I'll admit this is my first surround system. The system as a whole with the M80ti's the the 500 sub sounds great! I also picked up the Denon 3806.

Mark512 - Having had both an Ascend 340/170 system and a couple of Axiom systems, I can assure you they are both very good speaker companies.

The "bad" reviews on Axiom centers can be traced to about 3 guys who had an axe to grind.

If you visit Axiom's site, you will find dozens of rave reviews from professional reviewers, including some done here at Audioholics.

For us, We had M-22's and VP-150 and replace them with an Epic 80 system, complete with another VP-150. We love it.

Definitely listen to them if you can, the have different sounds which only you can assess the best for you. As Craig says, both great companies.

To make matters worse, Ascend has announced new versions:

SilverSurfer - Great find ! Looks like Mr. F has been working on stuff... :)

Edit, For the small price increase, the new Ascend stuff looks like a winner ! Yes, I have an e-mail into David Fabrikant about getting a set.

i have the m22ti's and vp150 and im pretty pleased with both..

the only bad things ive read about the center is that it can be a tad bright since it doesnt roll off the highs, but i never noticed it, not to where it bothered me anyway.

I know that someday you are going to run out of rooms in which to put speakers. ;)

The reviews that concerned me were at the following website:

But as was previously mentioned, it sounds like a few had a axe to grind for whatever reason. But I must say I am now getting interested in the new enhancement that Ascend is coming out with. Only downside I will have to wait until the new year. Thanks for all your comments, they have been very helpful!
One thing to keep in mind, the people on audio review are not experts. They also probably don't haveg proper setup/material/rooms. I only take written advice from people I can trust.

Loudspeakers > Ascend vs. Axiom

They are all outstanding speakers, it is a substance of individual preference at this point. I similar to the Axiom over the Ascends but it was a hard choice and the Axioms won out only because I thought they looked better. I also liked the Aperion but there appear to be something lost so it was taken out of contention.
