Piano Black PB12 Plus vs 20-39PC Plus - Stalemate! Can't decide!

I'm in a rut! I really don't know know what to do. On one hand the cylinder is going to be much easier to move around and place, but I just love the look of the piano Black PB12 Plus.

Piano Black PB12 is $200 more, which is not a big deal, but it's still around a day and 1/2 pay. :p I could be using that money to buy Blu-rays or CDs.

Anywho, has anyone really heard them both and can point me to which I might go for?

I run my subs HOT! I mean, I don't listen to music or movies with a ton of volume, but I want the bass to be shaking things.

PS: Don't post pics of your PB12 piano (please do!!!), or I may just go nuts!:(

Well, then I am clearly in touch with my feminine side. :D

I bought a cylinder, and I'm very happy with it. It has a nice look to it, something different from the norm, and it rocks the place (PC-Ultra). One vote for the cylinder - save some money and get a good talking piece.

box. piano gloss. mmmmm.

seriously though, the 'build' (looks) quality of the box is light years better than that of the cylinder.

In terms of output (ie, SLAM, IMPACT etc..), how big a leap is the Box version vs Cylinder. I am aware that the Box will go deeper and have more output than the cylinder. I'm trying to understand just by how much. If it's almost insignificant, I think I'd go with the cylinder because it'll be easier to carry up to my bedroom theater.

the box and cylinder plus are virtually the same. the box better than cylinder thing applies only to the Ultra (and maybe the PB12NSD)

Not much at all. If you're looking at data testing, you could see the difference, but listening in a normal room with regular material, it's highly unlikely you'd be able to tell the difference.

Aesthetically, I prefer the box, but I went with the cylinder because of the floorspace aspect.

Thanks. That's just what I was looking to hear. I read all the Cylinder vs Box debate but it never really broke down on the output differences and I heard conflicting impressions.

I'm gonna get the 20-39+ from Sonic Boom.

I personally think a cylinder in ever corner is badass.

I've got the cylinder, but would prefer the box... but I'm too cheap to spring for the box, besides at the time I couldn't fit a box, only the cylinder. I'm still very happy, and it makes for a great conversation piece.

Well I

had this conversation with the missus the other day. Her reply was which one is cheaper:eek:. In all honesty she preferred the cylinder sub and when I asked her to elaborate she simply thought the box sub would take up to much room:eek:. Can you say impasse:D.
Bluesmoke go with the cylinder because as far back as I can remember your posts its what you always wanted;).

I was going to get the cylinder because of the huge difference in weight, but once I saw it, I had to go for the box. IMO, it is hideous. Piano black would be gorgeous (I just went for textured black, but my upstairs HT has a PSB piano black sub).

Yea. You could say I've been saving up for the 20-39+ for 2 years. I wanted to get one a while ago but other expenses came up. Have some money free and I think I'll bite this time.

Also, it would be an excuse to re-watch a lot of my movies again to see what the difference is. Especially War of the Worlds DTS set to Reference levels.

Two years I can relate to that:D. Heck, I finally bought my new speakers, centre channel and I was planning that upgrade around the time I joined this forum. Wow time flies:eek:.
