Nice Upgrade!! :)

Hey, I bet you had your original center speaker off-set to the left so that you don't block the IR sensor on the tv, right?

Pretty stupid design! My bro got one from Costco, and his is off-set to the right. I've let a Samsung rep know, and asked him to pass the recommendation along to avoid this in the future!

psst, where are the subs? new ones coming? edit, oh, those aren't subs, hehe, oops lol :D

Hehe thanks. Yeah, that IR placement doesn't make any sense. MFW sub from av123 is on the way!

Nice setup. I like the look of the swans. What finish are they? Are they veneer?

Nice upgrade. It's got to be a whole world of difference between before and after.

Holy smokes what a huge upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek: Very nice set-up. Just really dig your tv stand as it adds such a good touch to your room. Kudos to you. Keep up the good work as you are heading in the right direction.

Cheers,

Phil

I don't know about you guys... but those speakers are tremendously good looking. I've always liked that yellow mid-range woofer accent. Some B&Ws have the same. To me, looks is very important.

I don't have a clue how Swan sounds though. I'm moving to Montreal in 1-2 weeks. I guess I'll have more options; more stores to look upon. :D

The receiver is an old Yamaha, RX-V1105 I believe, and it does an ok job so far but I doubt it'll stay where it's at for much longer. The room is far from ideal for an HT setup; very open floor plan and a lot of reflections from the floor, so I really want a receiver that can do a proper calibration which is something I haven't done yet. HDMI and latest audio formats would be nice too of course, so we'll see what happens when the latest models are out...I've been really tempted to pick up that 663 though! :D

The Swans are the Black Cherry veneer finish, but they're so rich and dark that you don't notice unless your nose is an inch away. I'll see if I can get some close-ups taken for you guys. Another thing that's nice are the piano black end caps which match perfectly with the bezel on the TV, hence all the reflections on the walls from the flash hehe. And yes, theaudioinsider.com is internet direct, so you'd have to look for some owners in your area if you want to audition. I bought them because I was looking for a good deal and read good things about them and have not been disappointed...just hoping to finish the package soon so I can finally get an idea of what real surround sound should be!

I know someone who got to see a Swan HiVi room at the last CES. He wanted to buy them on the looks alone, and that's coming from an owner of MA RS6 which don't look shabby by any means.

Mw`, have you played at all with the distance of speakers from front wall boundary? Do you sit a good distance away, as the toe-in seems to be pretty slight? Im sure you've played around already. Also, some people might recommend pulling out the center as much as comfortably possible. Cheers.

I'm sitting a pretty good distance away, I'd say 10-12 feet. I've played with them a bit, but without the means to do a calibration I figure it wouldn't make a huge difference. They're lined up with the center currently, but what I'm going to do is take out those two poles blocking the center so I can move it all the way to the lip of the shelf. I know that the mains are a little off because I can tell the bass is a bit stronger just behind my listening position...doh!

HF-33 question

Did you build the HF-33 with the 9" on top and 7" on the bottom?
Or is that 11" and 9"?
If you replaced the 7" top posts with 11" top posts, how did you get 11" pieces for the back?

Yeah it's 11/9, and I had the same question. I think they match them up automatically when they're packaging your order, but when I asked the phone rep they told me to put something in the comments section of the order form just to make sure.

Back with some updates! Added PS3, Denon 1909, Swan 2.1 surrounds, and MFW-15 from AV123. Boy what a package...I'm so impressed with how it all came together.
