I recently found out that my sister-in-law and husband (Robert and Julie) just lost everything they own to the flooding in Cedar Rapids, IA. They live only a couple blocks from the river, in fact a lot of the video they are showing on the news is very familiar to me because of our recent visit with them last summer. They didn't have flood insurance like most residents there because no one thought the river would ever crest at 32'. It's safe to say their house is a total loss along with the new Jeep Liberty Julie bought and Robert's HD Electro-glide.

My wife sent what extra money we had to help with the bare essentials but I humbly ask the folks here at Audioholics if you have some extra money to help them out through this difficult time we would be extremely grateful. Besides being family they are great people. Julie teaches at a school for troubled teens and Robert is a safety foreman (I think that's his title) at a Nuclear Power Plant (yes he's heard all the Homer Simpson jokes) that loves to hunt and ride his Harley.

My wife will transfer the monies to their account on Friday.

Thank you.

Best of luck and wishes to you and yours, Matt. It's not an easy time in the midwest, that's for sure and for certain. A lot of my family lives in Keokuk, Iowa or right across the Mississippi in Illinois, where the river is expected to crest on Wednesday at (if I remember right) three feet above the record. A lot of people are getting hit hard by this.

Again, best wishes to Julie and Robert. I hope that they are able to get back on their feet soon. There are a lot of good people in Iowa and on this site that hopefully can help. I can only imagine that members of my family will be up there helping to rebuild if Keokuk is spared.

Matt, very sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's loss. If I had some extra money, I would be glad to send it. Right now, my hours are getting cut down to like (3) days a week. I usually work (6).:eek: Hopefully, things will pick back-up again and as such get my normal hours back. I do, however, wish you great success with raising some money for your sister-in-law.

There are others in need too. I noticed that the flooding is very bad up in central Indiana as well. Things are really tough for all of us right now. From the outrageous gas prices to the high prices we are paying for groceries. Please take a moment sometime today and say a prayer. I will be doing just that myself. Just wish I could do more for you Matt. God bless you and your family my friend.

Cheers,

Phil

Matt, I tried to help your cause here. Hopefully, others will do the same. I did say a prayer as that is all I have to offer right now. Good luck as I respect what you are attempting to do. Kudos to you!!!!!

Cheers,

Phil

Great idea, Steven. Maybe a blu ray player with $25 a ticket. I think Ascend did something like that last year for a cancer center in California.

Mazer and Sharp-excellent idea!!!!! Maybe we can all help one of our brothers out. Perhaps someone can get this arranged rather quickly. Any other ideas/suggestions?? If so, feel free to speak up.

Cheers,

Phil

Guys, thanks for the support. I was going to do a raffle here but I just don't have the time to monitor one. I ended up cancelling my order for the new X-statiks/x-voice and donated that money with what I've recieved here to them. Robert and Julie had some money saved up for a downpayment for a new house so they are doing better than most in this situation.

I meant about the raffle tickets and the paypal transactions. The raffle I was going to do was of my own doing not related to Audioholics in any way besides the use of their forum.

Robert and Julie's immediate financial needs are being met; the have a long road ahead of them though dealing with insurance companies and the federal government since they have declared parts of Cedar Rapids a national disaster.
