Used universal player - choice and deal sound OK ?

I have been wanting a decent universal DVD player to accompany my Rotel CD-only player and replace my Panasonic DVD-S52 player. No complaints about the Panny by the way, its done good by me. Has no multi-channel outs though, HDMI for multi channel only. - I have always been wondering if I am missing anything when playing my DVD/As. Thoughts ?

I bought a Marantz DV7600 on ebay for $228 (including shipping). An additional bonus that sealed the deal for me, was 5 SACDs and 4 DVD-As were included. Amazingly all 9 were of titles that I could have easily seen myself picking up here or there. Very congruent with material that I play.

I almost bought a Marantz DV6500 for $130 out the newspaper the other day, so I figured the price of the DV7600 was at least in relative order.

The only negative rap on the 7600 I have heard is that the manual leaves out some key info on DVD-A menu options and multi channel SACD playback. Not sure what those items are yet, if I have trouble I guess I will have to go search some posts.

Anyway, does this sound reasonable or could I have done much better?
thanks,
t

First time I ever posted here without a single response. I guess I will have to assume that either its such a poor deal that nobody wants tell me. Is the machine too old for the price I payed? - Or I unknowingly broke some sort of rule.

I thought this wasn't too gooberish a question to bounce off the forum. Surely someone has a DV7600 with something to say.... or..... no?

Still the best and most worthwhile forum of any I have every joined.

I did not realize 'out of print' or 'unavailable' SACDs and DVD/As could fetch so much money. I knew a few limited edition CDs out there had some monetary value, so I suppose it makes sense. Anyway, I sold 3 of the little 9 disc collection on Amazon and already collected $155 !. The player works well so far, although I have not tried all options. This turned out to be a fine deal thus far (shamelessly pats self on back).
