Need Outdoor Speaks

I need, for now, 2 pairs of outdoor speakers. One pair must be in ground i.e. rock type speakers. The other can be just about anything. These will be at 2 different houses. I will not be comparing arias, but I do appreciate nice sound while listening to music or a ball game. I also need advice on what type of wire to use. Thanks in advance and good listening!

I can recommend two brands of outdoor rock speakers; only because I own the Niles pair, and have heard the Paradigm's.
I'm sure there are others, I can only vouch for these.
I have the Niles 8" Rock and they sound very good.

The second link is to Paradigm's Rock speakers. I've installed those at a customer's house, around a pool. They also sound great.

As for what wire; I use low voltage landscape lighting wire, 12AWG. It's direct burial wire.
If the wire is going into any walls, it should be CL2 rated.

Concerning wiring.

Normally, standard two wire will work, gauge 16 or18 will work up to 25 feet. If you are going longer distances 50ft you need to incease the wire size to 14gauge.

Thank you all for your sound advice. I am in the process of auditioning several models. I will post when I make a decision. By the way, my wife wants a theater in our garage! What a cool summer home-what a cool wife!!

how satisfied with the outdoor depot speakers are you and what can you tell me about them..there isnt much info on the net about them and the reviews on their website are canned or screened. i want at least a 6.5 in woofer as all the 5.25's i have heard (even ones over $300) dont push enough air
