Phoenix Mars Mission

Just want to give a hats off to the folks working the Phoenix Mars Mission for a job well done! Quite exciting, IMO. Always nice to have a successful trip when so many things could go wrong. It was a big day for a number of people here in the Old Pueblo. Not to say that the local stations interrupted the usual Sunday afternoon infomercials to show the landing live, but at least they talked about it on the nightly news. :)

I find this sort of stuff very interesting. It really boggles my mind when I actual sit down and soak this in, because the level of diffuculty to pull such a thing off is totally amazing. I can't wait till they have programs on PBS HD and discovery showing all the cool things they have collected and analyzed on the planet. Kudos to them! I think this is a 4 month mission, hope all goes well.

Although it's only one image, here's a nice shot at NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day site (excellent site, BTW). Click on the image and it expands it quite a bit. There's also a link on that page to other images that have been taken.

I agree - it boggles my mind, too. Heck, I was impressed yesterday that I got a wall in my kitchen painted. I don't think that I'll be sending anything to Mars anytime soon...

Wow, this is so darn interesting. Can you imagine what kind of speakers E.T. listens to? You never know who or what we will run into until it happens.....right? :p:p

It looks just like the Tucson area, Adam! ;)
Good eyes, good eyes. If you look close, you can see my house in the distance. ;)

Just kidding...no need for the we-never-went-to-the-moon group to get all riled up. :D

EDIT: Looks like mtrycrafts beat me to it!
