I couldn't resist this deal!

I was expecting a lot more buzz and excitement about this offer... perhaps I missed a thread somewhere where people are discussing it. I know it's RISKY buying speaker systems without having heard them first (and I don't need any reminders about that - hint, hint), but considering the great reviews, I'm willing to take that risk for this kind of offer.

After I placed the order, I got an email from the Audioholics Store informing me that they had run out of the center channel (EF30C) and they offered to replace it with the equivalent RBH TK-515C. I was concerned that the different material used in the 5 1/4" driver would have different sonic properties. One thing I really like about this system is the use of identical drivers in all of the units (with the obvious exception of the subwoofer). I asked if they could ship the remainder of the system now, and send the EF30C when they became available.

They then offered to upgrade all of the EMP system with the equivalent RBH products (TK-5CT, TK-515C, and TK-5C). The RBH PC-10 subwoofer has been discontinued, so the EMP E10s would still be the subwoofer with the system (which I prefer anyway because of the aluminum cone). This upgrade would be at no additional charge - I jumped on the offer! In fact, I'm getting two of the systems because I want to use towers as the right and left surrounds in a 7.1 system as well as the front mains. I like the "7ch stereo" setting for some types of music, especially classical, and I have some very good 5.1 dts music recordings as well. I'm sure there are persuasive arguments that the additional towers are unnecessary, but I have a similar setup now with some Polk Audio products, and I really like the overall sound. Plus, I wanted the additional sub so I could have a 2 sub setup. Granted, I will have a spare center and a spare set of bookshelves, but it's actually less expensive getting two systems than it would be to get one system and buy the additional speakers seperately. I'm really starting to salivate with anticipation. They're scheduled to arrive Wednesday!

First of all, congrats to you for getting such an amazing deal!

Second, *&%$#@!!!!

Sigh, talk about a serious case of buyers remorse. Prompted by the deal running on audioholics I ended up getting 2 RBH WM-30 for my left/right and 3 RBH WM-24 for my center/surrounds from the EMP store.
While it was a great deal and it sounds good, those RBH towers are gorgeous and obviously blow away any onwall speakers.

On top of that our house got some serious water damage last week so all my AV stuff is currently packed up under a tarp.:( Best estimate is we get to move back in a month from now.

/End feeling sorry for myself
//Not really but will fake it ;)

I'm sure glad I jumped on this deal!

Fedex brought my speaker systems a day earlier than estimated. I realize this thread is about the EMP EF30T system, but I can only share my impressions about the RBH equivalent system (since that is what I received instead). I have no idea whether Audioholics Store is still offering the free upgrade.

I hurriedly unpacked and set up one pair of the TK-5CT towers and just set everything to "flat". I was too impatient to set up the rest of the system, so I queued up Dire Straits' "Love Over Gold", one of my favorites for testing audio quality, and my first impression was: Ahhhhh... CLEAN!... even better than I hoped for! They have unbelievable clarity, detail, and "presence". I literally heard nuances that I have never heard before, and I have listened to that album/CD innumerable times on some pretty decent equipment. I still need to set up the rest of the system, and I have a LOT more listening and tweaking to do, but I wanted to give my initial impression.

At this point I have no regrets whatsoever for taking a chance on this system. I can't imagine that is going to change either. I'm guessing that the more I listen, the better satisfied I will become.

I don't know what to say about your situation ChunkyDark, other than that I'm sure the water damage SUCKS! I had an experience with fire damage some years ago, and that's no fun either. I've had buyers remorse plenty of times, but I can honestly say "not this time".

How'd they upgrade your system from the EMP to RBH products? I thought they didn't carry RBH? If you were lucky enough to get that kind of service, then kudos to you and the Audioholics Store. That's awesome.

RBH was generous enough to offer the upgrade since they were back ordered on center channels. As you could imagine, this promo deal running for the month of May has created quite a demand for the system.

I also got the RBH deal!

I also was able to get the RBH TK series upgrade. Have it paired with the Yamaha RX - V663 which I also purchased at Audioholics.
The speakers are awesome. Great sound and looks!

I'll vouch for this, I was also one of the lucky ones. 2 RBH TK-5CT tower speakers, 2 RBH TK-5C bookshelf speakers, an RBH TK-515C center channel speaker, and an EMP E10s powered subwoofer, all for 900 dollars. I'm a happy man....

kudos to RBH, the Audioholics store, and anyone else who might have been involved. :D

Edit: did I mention that all of the RBH speakers have a black finish? :D
