Elemental Designs 13Ov2 on sale

I got an email yesterday from elemental designs, they are clearing out their dual 4 ohm voice coil 12" Ov2 subs, they normally sell for (and still are on their website) $175 each, but they are selling them for $70 each plus shipping. I ordered 2 of them, even though I don't really need them, it's just way too good of a deal to pass up. I'll probably end up putting them in my car at some point since my amp puts out the most power at 1 ohm. But for anyone looking to build a nice DIY HT sub, this would be an awesome driver or 2 to use. If you want the link let me know and I'll send it to you, since I don't think they are selling them this cheap to everyone.

They are all sold out now... Mine should be here tomorrow! These are great subs, on par with the JL W6 series.

Dang, didn't see this until now. Don't really have a need for them either but would have been fun to try a DIY sub with these.

Yeah, I don't think you could possibly find a better sub anywhere for that price.

Oh good... When I clicked the link in my email again this morning, it said product not available. They must have made that pricing available to the general public now. Get them while they are still there...

Actually, I clicked out through the Email, its odd it told you that they were out.

Glock, is it possible to wire both these subs to a single 2ohm load? Its been awhile since I did car audio, and I couldnt find any diagrams as to getting 2 4ohm DVC subs into a single 2ohm load.

Thanks!

No, using 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs together, you will either have a 1 ohm load on your amp if you wire everything in paralell, or a 4 ohm load if you wire the coils in series and paralell them both into the amp... or a 16 ohm load would be possible if you wired everything in series, but that would be retarted.

Here is a good wiring diagram... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161

Shipping only took a two or three days for me, very impressive. Still waiting to get a box for mine, I think a friend of mine is going to help me do a custom enclosure, but I'm excited to get them in and listen since they are comparable to JL 12W6s.

If you wire two 4 ohm loads in series you sum the load: 8Ohms, if you wire two 4 Ohm loads you halve the resistance: 2Ohms.

Yes, but these are dual voice coil subs, with each coil being 4 ohms.

Bummer I missed this, but I already have a 13Ov2 Dual 2 Ohm I'm using in my secondary setup that I was lucky enough to grab when they had overstock for a little over $100 some time back.

These drivers perform quite well for the money, IMO. Just for clarification of some of the posts earlier regarding wiring and load, Jinjuku is correct. The dual 4 Ohm drivers can be wired in series to obtain an 8 Ohm load, which most would do. If they are wired in parallel, this would reduce the load to 2 Ohms, which is difficult to power.

While not as good as the 13Ov2s, eD has a closeout on the 13kv2 dual 4 Ohm drivers right now for $50 plus shipping, here's the link:

Find an inexpensive 200w amp (MCM Electronics had some at one point, IIRC), build a decent sized ported enclosure and you're in business for very little out of pocket... -TD

I also picked up a nine.1 amp as well, so I should have plenty of bass in my car before long. I think I'm more excited to hear my current elemental e15A on the nine.1 than I am about hearing the 2 13Os. 1200 watts RMS @ 1 ohm 12.5 volts is a lot of power. I'm waiting on my friend to finish up working on another friends car then he and I will redo my trunk and make everything look a lot better, and we will build boxes for my new 12s.

They have been sold out now for a while, but you can still get the 13Kv2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs for $50 + shipping. I just got a couple of them to put in my girls car to replace her current crappy rockford fosgate punch subs.
