I had a Pioneer Premier PRO 12 for about 4 months. It has started to act really weird. It still plays good but when it is turn up loud... but not too loud it act all speratic (sp?) like bouncing wildy. I don't know if its blown or what. I don't want to go buy a new one if this one is not blown.

I could upload a video of what it is doing.

Is it still under warranty?

What are you driving it with?

Do you know which model:

TS-W3001D2: Dual 2 ohm, 4 Layer, Long Coil (1 ohm x or 4 ohm)
TS-W3001D4: Dual 4 ohm, 4 Layer, Long Coil (2 ohm x or 8 ohm)

How much power are you trying to drive it with? It is supposed to be able to handle 3000 watt peak power with a nominal power of 1000 watts; that is a whole lot of power!! You might be close to the limits of your receiver or amp. If so, you might want to bridge so that it is 8 ohms instead of 4 ohms impedance.

If it is still under warranty and should be at 4 months you might want to look into a replacement!

P.S. -How are your eardrums holding up ???

you bring up interesting points.

If he connected the two four ohm voice coils in parallel, that would result in a two ohm load. Not something many amps take too kindly too, particularly when pushed.

If he "bridged" a stereo amp for this, that bridged amp would "see" a speaker load as one half it's rated impedance. i.e, it would "see" a four ohm load as two ohms. Not something many amps take too kindly too, particularly when pushed.

Then again, bridging or not, paralelled voice coils or not, he could easily be overdriving that amp.

OK guys, I found out the amp I was using was not staple at 2 ohms. So I hooked it up to a new amp which puts out 1000wrms and is stable down to 1 ohm. Plays great now, so far.

Thank you guys for all the help.
