Being a fan of science fiction, I would place 3 at the top:

2001: A Space Odyssey
The Day the Earth Stool Still
Forbidden Planet

I read that there's a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still coming out. Keannu Reeves is playing Klaatu. I think it would be better casting if he played Gort. I'm not generally a fan of remakes and I'm guessing I won't be impressed with this one.

Children of Men.

VERY underrated. Also the closest movie you will see to the Half Life 2 storyline.

I wish they would make a Half life movie.

This really troubles me since all three of these movies I list went out of their way to get the physics and astronomy accurate. Klaatu properly defines inertia in this movie and the equations on Dr. Barnhard's blackboard are real equations from celestial mechanics. Klaatu uses correct mathematical terminology when informing Dr. Bardhard how to solve his problem. I doubt the film makers of today will bother to get the science and math correct. Finally, TDTESS works well for its time, it won't likely work in the present.

I just watched the movie Grandma's Boy recently and I found this movie to be a riot, I laughed the entire time:D. I was not expecting much of this title and as it turns out I found this to be one of my favorite comedy movies:).

Looking back, the lion was a bad idea. That's why Dr. Shockla is gonna hook us up with a monkey. I'm gonna teach it taekwondo (Grandma's Boy)

I really like Resident Evil Part 2. Just thought it was spectacular. I also really liked Disturbia. These to me kinda stand out as well as Iron Man that I seen just recently. Really found it a bit shocking to see Jeff Bridges cast with a shaved head as he always has a head full.:eek:

Resident Evil 2? You aren't kidding are you? That is just a really bad movie; the worst in the series so far IMO (though Extinction wasn't a lot better).

Nope not kidding this time. I liked it a lot. Did not really care for Extinction though. Hope there will be another one soon. What did you not like about pt. 2?

I didn't like most of it. The story was decent, in keeping with the overall story, but the whole second half of the movie just felt like the ran out of money and just tried to wrap it up. To me it was just not as good as the first one. I thought it was OK, meaning it isn't total garbage, but it wasn't a great flick either - popcorn flick essentially. Extinction was much the same, just in a different environment.

Well, I see your point. It is true that the first one was a bit better. I guess I really liked what they did to that one guy that was the boyfriend on the main chick. Extinction just was not very good imho. But, kinda got me thinking that perhaps part 2 really wasn't that good.

Well, there's hope for the next one at least, with that big open ended ending :D My guess is it won't be much better though  Seems like they are just trying to cash in on the franchise more than anything. I didn't go see Extinction in the theaters because it looked pretty weak, and I was not surprised when it was when I picked up the BD. At least the BD had great sound :)

Maybe it will be better than Extinction. Never hurts to hope. But, it does kinda look like they are merely cashing in. I was so disappointed, that I will not even buy it. Not even interested in seeing it again. I will, however, buy Iron Man once it is released for home viewing.

Extinction was a blind buy for me, and fortunately, it was on sale, though it has only been viewed once. I picked up Apocalypse for $9.99, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it (even at that price, I only bought it to complete the series). My son saw Iron Man and really liked it, but I will likely wait for that on disc also.

I listed The Crow as my favorite movie, but I also said that I didn't think that it was a good movie, just my fav.:)

Yeah, Iron Man is really good. In fact, I plan on going to see it again which is almost never heard of around my home. The new Indiana Jones will be out soon, so chances are I will have to see it too.
