The Blue Theater...

It is basically an upstairs bedroom converted into a small theater room with a projector. It's a very humble setup with a modest budget.

More pictures to follow once I've tidied things up a bit, especially the cables. I've been buying stuff in pieces and never got around to setting up the goods. I tried taking pics of the projected image but was having trouble with the camera flash (on the wall now until I figure out the right size screen to make).

Equipment List as follows:
Energy Refererence Connoisseur 30 Towers
Energy Refererence Connoisseur LCR Center
Energy Refererence Connoisseur RC-R Surrounds (not pictured as it's not set up yet)
Energy S10.3 Subwoofer
Pioneer 918 HDMI receiver
Ancient Sony CD/DVD player (used for CDs)
Sony PS3 for virtually everything
BenQ W500 projector with HQV Reon

Cables are handmade with Canare 4S11 cables with Banana plugs and heat shrink.

Thanks, I reduced the size. Oh I eat ice cream all year long, and play hockey in -30.

Screenwise I don't know what size I want to go. Right now, the projected image is 87". I think I'll settle around there. Maybe make it out of blackout cloth.

Nice setup. I like the cable you made. Be sure to use that reserved spot for some more pictures for us.

Man, if that's humble and modest, mine is absolute bargain basement crap!

BTW, are you sure all your speakers are Energy Refererence? ;)

Excellent use of a spare bedroom! :)

You could make a few insulated shims for that center channel speaker to raise the angle vs. the foam padding. It would hardly cost you anything.

Are you going to permanantly mount the projector? Ceiling or stand?

I forgot we can't edit posts after a few hours. So my 'reserved' post is all for nothing. So here are some more pics, this time with some Energy Porn! :p Oh Jonnythan, I saw the typo too late. Can't go back and re-edit! I basically typed it once and copy and paste. Who's got time to type 'reference' several times.

First is the rat's nest. I'll have to do something about that.

Grills are magnetic and super easy to take off. Except the sub. It must be super glued. I tried to take it off but gave up in fear of snapping a tab.

Closeup of my DIY center channel riser.

My pride and joy! The center really completes the soundstage.

Shot of the tweeter and drivers of the RC30. Kevlar, ribbed speakers.

My RC-Rs still in box.

Speaker stands, and couch. I bought this leather couch for --- $299. :D Place for my remotes and drinks on the handrails.

That's it for now until I tidy things up, and mount the projector. Thanks for the comments so far. It fit my budget without going nuts. Don't have the money to go nuts.

Thanks. I'm going to put the Projector on the wall, on a rack.

Nothing to be humble about very nice set up and IMO the only thing better than the RC's in black ash is the RC's in Rosenut. :D

Nice job, Blue! Those of us without space to build a real HT are humbled by your humble, real HT. :)

I actually like Black better than the Rosenut, which looks great, but the black ash look just seemed to do it for me. Plus, I could see the Black in person. I would've had to order the Rosenut sight unseen. Didn't want to risk it. Plus, my surrounds only come in black.

Thanks. I was weary about getting a projector in such a small room. Now I can't go back to a tv anymore. Even on a white wall, it looks great.

My favorite pic is of that speaker wire. :D Home made to boot. I find that pretty impressive. An 87" image really makes that a home theater.

Congrats,
Alex

Exactly. I'd love to have a dedicated space for HT. You've got a nice setup there.

What kind of speaker stands are they. I need something like that.
