I just purchased my receiver at Christmas, but I am not getting any output now after I ran the automated speaker settting program. It does make sound when it tests during the YPAO program. The receiver is connected to dvd through digital connection, and to my dvr through optical connection.

The Sub is connected to the receiver through the correct sub line out connnection.

Any clue as to what's going on?

You'll have to be more specific.

Are you saying you're not getting any output from the sub at all, no matter what you're listening to? Or is it just during music or movies?

I know that unless you have the sub output setting at "Both", you will get sub output with a 5.1 signal, like in a movie soundtrack, but not with music.

Welcome to the forum!

A number of those auto set-up routines will set your speakers (at least the front ones) to "Large", even if they are only bookshelf speakers. With that setting, it won't divert the low frequency notes from those speakers to the sub. Even if the reciever has the sub as being present, you wouldn't hear anything until an LFE track was played.

Go into the set-up menu and set the speakers to "Small" (or the equivalent), and you should start getting output from the sub again.

I have read similar issues as you described above on the AV123 forum with reference to the Yamaha 661 and Onkyo 605 and low to no sub ouput. For some re-running the YPAO did the trick and for others increasing the subwoofer gain on the receiver also helped.

Check the speaker settings. a couple of things to look for.

If your subwoofer is power and you had the gain turned up high during testing you will have a very very low automatic levle.

Through manual setting you can increase the gain on the subwoofer.

If you have a powered sub oofer check to see that the gain is set to you liking.

If you have an "auto-on" try it with "on" forced. Klipsch subs seem to have a high failure rate with "auto-on"; at least mine an others have.

If auto YPAO set you speakers to "large" it assumes the speaker can handle the full range of sound and a sub is not needed.

You want the speaker set to small with a crossover frequency; at the crossover frequency and below the output will be directed to the sub.

The sub needs to be "Yes". And if you have a bass setting it needs to be either "sub", "both" or "mixed".
