I have not been this stoked for a movie since LOTR's. I am a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE, fan of the cartoon; did I say HUGE?. I remember watching it when I was in kindergarten and I could not wait to get home to watch Speed Racer. From what I have read so far it looks they nailed it pretty good. Friday in Imax I am there: Go speed go:D:D:D

Yup, I grew up with Speed Racer, it was a soap opera for kids, like the original Johnny Quest.:D

Man that is a good one too. I am surprised it has not been made into a film yet as well. Maybe these guys will do it if speed does well.

I am really looking forward to seeing this movie though. What's wrong with me?

don't answer that:D

I just can't get into this movie but was also a SR fan. I did get a kick out of seeing ChimChim(?) and the outfits are spot-on.

Now Johnny Quest and Race Bannon is another story altogether :) ....that kid was the shiznit!

I was a fan, but this movie looks absolutely mind numbingly stupid.

I gotta agree 100% with j_garcia on this one. The trailers I've seen just look painfully awful. I'd really like to be wrong on this, because it was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid too. But my gut says less than 10% on the tomatometer.

I remember the cartoon from when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I also remember thinking it pretty much sucked. Must be an age thing (I first saw it quite close to the end of my cartoon-watching years.)

I think maybe some of you are missing the point. This movie was made by fans of the cartoon. They tried to bring the cartoon to life and from what I have read so far they seem to have succeeded. If you are a fan of the cartoon then you should enjoy the movie. I think it would have been a mistake to turn into some kind of Days of Thunder type movie. Leave your brain in the car and go have fun with this one.

Just because the makers are fans of the movie doesn't mean they are good movie makers. I really want this to be a good brainless enjoyable popcorn flick. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

As of now its got a 30% critics rating, 20% top critics rating, and 72% community rating over at The Rotten Tomatoes. That's already way above what I was expecting to see. Looks like it could easily go either way.

From the commercials I've seen, it looks very cool visually. The colors look like you're on some kind of acid trip or something. Plus I've got a thing for Christina Ricci. :D

But the cartoon I'd really like to see a movie of is Battle of the Planets, (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman). I used to love that show!!

Oh yeah, what about Starblazers?!?! That'd be cool too.

I'm more interested in seeing Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie. Normally I would say game to movie no way, but with Disney backing it, it at least has a chance of being good.

I also read that David Hayter, the voice of Snake, pitched a script to Sony for a Metal Gear Solid movie, but they passed on it. It is still on the table though.

I will definitely give SR a rent, but not interested enough to hit theaters for it.

Yeah, I won't go to a theater for it either. But I might buy the Blu-ray sight unseen. I'm still waiting for a racing movie with good demo material sound.

Metal Gear would be sweet.

Most critics (amateur) that complained about the weird trailers said the movie totally redeemed their impression of the Wachowski brothers' efforts.

...Positively. They were just as frustrated as some people in this thread over the direction this movie might take after glimpsing at the trailer. Go see it and you might like it.

Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch it this weekend. I want to see Iron Man first. :)

The one review I heard of it today said it was good. I still think it is a rental for me, even with Ricci as Trixie.
