Rear center height question

Due to some in room furniture positioning versus available space, I had to mount my left and right side surrounds fairly high on the wall so no one rips them out of the wall if they accidentally walk into them.

How would this affect the rear center mounts for a 7.1 setup? I read that ideally you want to keep the tweeters at the same height for all the surround channels so sound pans feel accurate to the listener.

I have the space to mount the rear centers anywhere on my back wall, so do I...

A: mount them the same height as the side surrounds

B: mount them just a little higher than ear height so the rear centers fire straight to the back of my head, kind of like the front center does to my face

C: Mount the rear centers 1 or 2 feet above seated ear height as per normal surround mounting procedure.

I am in the process of putting some extra 2 x 4 material in the wall where those speakers are going to be wall mounted so they are good and solid, I just want to make sure I get it right before I close up the walls.

Thanks in advance.

Seriously, I have no life.

If you are able to experiment, by all means try it at the same height as the sides and at where normally would be mounted, see if you can tell.
Otherwise, I am not sure how many movies would have such pans in the back channels.

The thing is, I can't experiment, I am in the midst of putting the last few finishing touches in the walls before I insulate and close them up... There is no system in my basement currently.

I am at a crossroads on how high to put the anchoring material for the rear centers, do i go just above couch level?

The thought of mounting rear centers higher up on the wall, say 24" above seated ear position seems weird to me... like, the rear centers would be firing well over the top of your head...

Thoughts?

The Dolby recommendation for surround height is two to three feet above ear level so the two feet you are considering should be about right.

You can put blocking in every place you think you might want the speakers before you close the wall.
And what MDS said.

I think the best is to mount the rear centre at the same height as the surrounds. You can angle it downwards a bit if you want. This is what I've done, and it sounds a treat.

cheers,
