I am looking for a person or company experienced in constructing or directing a builder in constructing a dedicated HT room. I find plenty of people who are good with the wiring/electronics side but I have not found many who can really address the optimal room construction techniques and provide me direction and a plan. I need someone who has built rooms multiple ways and can say what would work best for my budget. I don't have a huge budget and am looking to maximize my investment with a properly constructed room. Anyone?
Dennis Erskine charges about $2,500 for DIY blueprints, IIRC. There was a guy who helped me learn about PJ setups at AVS. He has a seriously terrific system with false wall, and he says if he did it all over again, he would've spent that money for his expertise. He thinks it would have been a worthy value. The plans include HVAC. He's done a ton of different jobs. You can find pics of his jobs with some browsing at AVS. Of course, if he is on-site, its going to be a lot more money!
I do not have an opinion, but my system has certain compromises (specifically audio), but I did not hire any pro's. Bought some food and beers for a couple of friends who helped me build a riser and install the screen. I had a guy who was working on some other electrical issue set up a dedicated circuit while he was available. I suppose, with enough time, I'll address certain audio issues (which won't be hard I think). I should say that it's probably only myself that notices any audio issues
