Help! Dead? Mitsu bigscreen

All,

I have a Mitsubishi WS55907 purchased and installed in late 2000. Recently, nothing happens when I press the power switch. Nothing means no green light on the power switch, no picture, zero. I tried plugging it in to a known functional outlet, still nothing. I'm torn because I want a new TV since this one is nearly obsolete. Thanks for the tips.

I would go to the Hometheaterpot.com. They have a mitsubishi thread that service techs moderate. Those guys will tell you exactly what to do.

My Mits is down too, but its a problem with IC convergence. Getting fixed in June . So i am stuck watching SD-DVD's in a back-up analog hometheater.

Well if you want a new tv and that one is dead, buy a new hd tv. There are plenty of folks on this forum that can steer you in the right purchase. 8 years is an acceptable time for a tv to last I guess......

I'm betting that the TV's power supply has died. This happened to my 27-inch Sony Trinitron 2 years ago. It was a $250 repair.

Buying a new TV is one option.. but a properly calibrated RP CRT can have an amazing pictures. The biggest thing is being able to display native 480p. SD-DVD's look amazing in native 480p.. There have been times when i am watching DVD's and really felt like it was in HD. Watching SD-DVD on various 1080p sets (samsung, sony), dvd looks hands down better on a native 480p display.

But of course HD looks better on 1080p than 1080i, but the difference isnt as dramatic.
