DIY Subs

Anybody looking for a new sub should strongly consider a DIY sub. The sub I built sounds excellent and is tons and I mean TONS better than my old sub. I really opened up the sound to my ears due to being much tighter and not having that bass bloom that smeared the sound if you know what I mean. Building a sub is not that difficult if you do your planning correctly and follow advice of resident experts on this board.

I LOVE my Rythmik Audio sub.

It was my first audio DIY project and I have a limited amount of tools. It doesn't look very pretty, but it sounds great.

I also recommend DIY for subs. I'm thinking of doing something for full-range speakers, but that seems a lot more complicated.

Yes, I am still enjoying the sub. The first time I tried a movie (Saving Private Ryan) my dog jumped a foot and ran into other room. What's better about DIY is if later on I want to build a different enclosure I can.

Yes, in your case, a properly engineered slot port system would greatly increase your LF output potential around the tuning frequency. So, there is a degree of incentive for you to change the enclosure at a later date.

Yes, I do recommend the use of these drivers when the highest fidelity is desired. They have excellent motors with very low distortion throughout their rated physical x-max limitations.

Sorry, I am not aware of guides. But if you any specific questions concerning relevant measured parameters vs. sound quality [as correlated with known credible perceptual research], I can answer.
