Monster Cables Vs Psyclone Cables for Ps2 game system

Don't hold back Dave. Tell us how you really feel. :D
Fair enough.

Here is the current cable the OP is using. Unless they are worn or damaged from use, there is no point in spending $1 on another product, even if it seems like a good deal. If the OP wants to pick up a spare cable "just in case", by all means have at it.

But the subtext here lies in the fallout from the Monster/BJC thread that is attracting so much attention and generating so many new users lately. I get the impression that our new user above is a strolling troll, i.e. just passing through but will stop long enough to fan some flames. Forgive me if I have judged our new user too harshly, but I was/am of the impression that he is a Monster fanboy drawn here by the controversy and couldn't resist getting a plug in.

Wrong, I'm not a fanboy at all, I believe monster makes a good quality cable. I also know that they are over priced, but I don"t just walk into a retail store and buy them at full price. I shop around online and find some amazing deals on monster cables. I know there are cables on the market that will do the same thing at a fraction of the price (monoprice cables anyone?), but I've been using monsters for a very long time. Every cable I own is monster (I wanted to stay with one company) and I have never paid full price. I got introduced to monster by a friend and have never turned back. I stay with what works for me and what has been for years. I have had other cables that have failed on me before, never a monster cable. I know that there are a lot of people that hate monster for their marketing schemes (HDMI scam anyone? LOL!), but the fact is that they do make a great cable, that is overpriced (But than that's the consumers fault for not shopping around online; I 've bought cables that monster advertise on their website for sometimes 50% off the retail price.), that has a great quality build. I know where u are coming from, but don't judge me because of 5 words. Monster is a good cable company. ;)

Monster cable makes good cables, but they are not a good company in my opinion. They are always trying to crush the little guys by sueing them for patents to technology that was always a given (simple electrical engineering stuff that everyone electrical engineer likely knows and would employ if they where making their own cables). They also sue anyone that has a similar name to them. Refer to the link to Wikipedia earlier in this thread to see the companies they have sued, and even movie titles, for having the word "Monster" in them. They are immoral money grubbing SOBs and they won't get a dime more from me, even if their cables can be found for dirt cheap I won't buy them.

I see...well, I understand your stance but I really don't care about that part of the business now. I never knew any of that and if I did , I don't know if it would change my mind. You make it seem as if they are the only major company to do stuff like that. I'm a huge fan of Apple products, but look at their ridiculous endeavor to stop NYC to stop using the praise "The Big Apple". All because they don't want the consumer to get the wrong idea of their product. It happens everywhere. I respect your choice though.....Sorry for the off topic OP. Next time I'll reply to a post in a better manner. I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression on me. I came to these forums for help on a topic and the replier was helpful. moving on now......;)

Don't buy from monster cable they are a complete ripoff in terms of quality vs price. Buy from bluejeans or monoprice as they have quality cables and GREAT prices.

I'm glad we got that settled. Sometimes it takes more than 5 words to convey a point clearly. I'm glad to see that you're not here just to stir things up and I freely apologize for my initial reaction. If nobody else has said it welcome to the board.

I do admit to owning one Monster HDMI cable that I received for free, which is just about the only price I would pay for a Monster product. It has no advantage over my Monoprice HDMI cables or my DVI Gear HDMI cable, also free. It's just another cable that performs as...a cable.

For the record, I don't support Apple or Tom Cruise either (at least not anymore).:D

Nah, a fanboy wouldn't be touting a cheap deal on their cables. The post seems legit to me.
The post you reference was still in reference to the "Monster all the way" comment, his first post on the site. His subsequent post, re: cheap deals, gives more context to his opinion and as you can see, I have since offered my welcome to him.

But it's unlikely we'll see eye to eye, vis-à-vis Monster as a good company, unless he changes his mind.;)

WOW! You shouldn't be so ignorant as to believing that yourself!:p Let it be already...(by the way when you post do a spell check)

You don't like monster cable, thats your agenda. Stop trying to be-little a post that was as honest as mine. Considering you've been posting for over a 160 times; You should no that not everyone goes with indie cable companies. Some people are only introduced to whats common (like myself with monster). I just started to get into this whole AV hobby and there are lot of things I don't know and do. Could you imagine the regular consumer who just walks into Best Buy or Circuit City.....guess some people don't get it.

I don't think it's neccesary to have your post deleted. We've all written stuff at one time or another that read differently from how we intended it to sound. The public apology you quickly posted is more than enough and more than most would do. I think it shows character.

Not a cable expert here (but lets be honest, has not being an expert ever stopped anyone from posting on a forum :p) but those Psyclone cables look fine to me. And reasonably attractive. Not drop dead gorgeous but certainly not ugly. Do the Monster ones look better? I bring it up cause someone mentioned the looks would be the only improvement.

As far as Monster goes, I probably wouldn't buy their stuff anymore now that I'm in the know about their business practices. But thats mostly because I found Blue Jeans cable and I love their prices, quality, customer service (quick delivery times), customizability (when ordering) and looks. I'm none too fond of Walmart either but I haven't found a suitable replacement so I shop there. So I'm certainly not judging anyone who still buys from Monster. I would think those cables being on clearance is already a defeat for Monster as they lose a tiny bit of their brand prestige. They got their money anyway.

As far as PS2 (or PS3) stuff, I would buy the stuff from Sony (controllers, memory cards, cables etc.) or at the least a licensed product. I'm not sure about the Psyclone being licensed but if you have used it and your PS2 hasn't blown up yet I guess its OK.

On the surface, that chart shows nothing wrong with Monster. Nearly all products (not just audio) have a wholesale price that is about 50-60% of retail price. How do you think the retailer makes a profit on the product? Monster does not benefit from costs above wholesale!

What should be staggering about the chart is the wholesale pricing....they are making a killing on each cable sold. Given that their cables are made in China, an HDMI cable likely costs no more than a few dollars to manufacture and they are charging a wholesale price of $80! Astounding.

I would recommend Psyclone (well not really) or the PS2 component cables.

I heard the Monsters have a hard time following their claims on paper in more ways than one ;)
