Blue Jeans Cable +1

Just wanted to post my positive experience with Blue Jeans Cable. I have several heavy duty HDMI cables (their Series-1) one of which went bad probably due to me bending it excessively around tight corners and what not. I sent an email to BJC yesterday morning, got a reply, sent my reply, and had a new cable shipped and in my hands today. Yes, I realize I live in Seattle (where BJC is located) but I find it just amazing that a company can take the time to listen to my problem and send me a replacement (no questions asked) in an extremely expeditious manner.
BJC, kudos!

I bought subwoofer cables from BJC because they will make them to any size you want (something you cannot get with off the shelf cables) and because I had read so much positive info on them. I really appreciate their site too with all the in-depth technical articles. That kind of no-nonsense tech talk will sway me every time because I understand a good bit of it (not all of it mind you. :))

They shipped super fast and I received exactly what I ordered. I was impressed with the builld quality and of course it works flawlessly. I just have one minor nit and that is that I'm not sold on the Canare connectors. Now I've read all the techno babble and their long history in the industry and for all I know they truly are the best you can get. I just don't like the extra long length of them and they don't seem to make a tight connection on my sub (SVS SB12) but fit just fine on the receiver. As I said, they do work perfectly though.

Maybe I'm just out there...but I'd like to see options for connectors just as they have lots of options for cable types. I like the way the inexpensive Monster THX cables/connectors fit better than the Canare plugs (and no I don't buy the overpriced/over hyped Monster stuff but I have quite a few of the THX standard series because they are readily available at the local store and work fine). I'd give up a few percentage points in performance for connectors that just feel better to me because I probably wouldn't hear any difference anyway.

I have one monster cable that was given to me that I used once and I found it fit way too tight, it was a ***** to get out on the back of my receiver (it collects dust now), I have never experienced interconnects that fit to loose though. The BJC interconnects I have fit just nice on all my equipment and on the back of my receiver.

I don't wanna be shot to bring a negative point but am I the only one who finds the site ugly? I mean, it looks really cheap and the interface doesn't seem very intuitive. Since they are an internet based company, they could really profit of something more attractive and easyer to use.

Just my .02$

n.b. I'm not bashing their products. I don't own any yet but I have no need for cables at the moment. I'd like to order some of their speaker wires if the sleeves came in black.

btw, do they ship to canada?

I think the website fits there motto. I like how their cables just come in a cardboard box tied up with black velcro with no flashy packaging and other B.S. And yes they ship to Canada and ship fast.

yes they do. i had my last order shipped to ontario, canada.

the one before that to the Philippines.

so they pretty much ship anywhere.

edit: for some reason, i thought noone had answered this question ... but i was an hour late with my reply.

I couldn't care less what the site looks like! I only care that the product I get from them is well made, and priced reasonably!

The Big cable companies have pretty websites with cool graphics..... they also have high prices, and poor quality cables. I commend BJC for offering a better price and better quality cables, at the expense of a somewhat tame web page. that's my take on things. I also have cables from BJC.....couldn't be more happy with them.

Peace,
Tommy

Couldn't agree more; I can't even log onto Audioquest's website without the overwhelming urge to puke.

So in order to have a good product you must have a shitty website? :p lol

I dont think anyone is saying that, im just glad BJC spends the time and resorces to bring us a better product at a better price. Rather than spending the time and resorces on a flashy website.

I wouldnt call BJC's website "shitty". I think its fine, im not on there to Oooh and Aaah just there to purchase good cables.

Peace
Tommy

For what it's worth...

I see your point Moettus, but I don't share your sentiment. I gravitate more towards MDS pov in that the BJC website is very easy to navigate and more importantly extremely informative. As a consumer I find a lot of value in that. As for the cool flash animations that permeate most consumer websites I could do without them, they slow down my page loading! ;)

agreed. it looks cheap, but it works. that's the important part.

i want BJC to add some products ... sometimes I go there just to see if I can buy something new.

Axiom audio's 12 awg bulk speaker comes in black, I like the looks of it actually. It is expensive though at 0.96/ft. I think shipping would be free too if you live in Canada.

Maybe they call themselves Blue Jeans Cable for a reason.:)
These guys have found a niche in a very competitive market. I admire them for that. I might start my own cable company and call it Tuxedo Transmorgafixation. On my website you'll be greeted with a view of a blonde model and myself all decked out on our way to install cable elevators on an audiophile's system in Zürich .

that's the only thing I wanted to point out. Even though I don't own their products (I'd love to), I'm happy they offer something good without taking their whole business on lies like Monster and like. All my respect goes in that regard. But I just wanted to tell that the site could use a revamp so it would be a little easier to navigate. I love the information that's in there don't get me wrong. And I'm not talking about making a Las Vegas #2 on my computer screen when I go there either.
