12V Trigger Emotiva

Just got in Emotiva LPA and all hooked up. Great Great Amp. I also have Belkin PF 31 line conditioner. I have the emotiva plugged right into the Walls socket. I took a 12V trigger and plugged it into the Belkin and the other end into the Emotiva. when i turn the receiver off everything shuts down, reciever, dvd, vcr and belkin. Because there is a 12V trigger connected to the belkin should my amp go on and off with it???? It doesnt turn off as i have to manually do it?? should i try running the 12v trigger from amp to receiver?

Odds are that you have a 12v input on the amp hooked to a 12v input on the Belkin. You probably should use the second 12v output on the receiver, if it has one.

i have a lpa-1 hooked to my 805 onkyo, and yes when you turn the receiver off, it should also turn off the amp. My onkyos trigger is setup on zone 2, so i plugged a 12 volt adapter into the switched outlet of the onkyo to use as a trigger...works great

I just went and looked at the specs for your Belkin and I don't see anywhere a mention of a 12v trigger.

Over at new egg they show pics of the back of the unit and it does have a remote ac and dc in but these would be there to start the switched outlets on the belkin not as triggers to start the amp.

You would need a trigger out on the belkin and it does not have any. Use the out trigger on your receiver and it should work fine.

damn, my receiver yamaha 5960 doesnt have a 12v trigger output. Any other options? i guess i am stuck turning the on Amp manually unless i unplug it from the wall and plug the power cord into the Belkin?

Plugging into the Belkin may not work either. The amp still has to have a live outlet in standby and using a switched outlet on the belkin will cut off all power so when it would turn on the switched outlet all it will do is put the amp in standby mode.

My MPS also has a setting where is will come on when it gets a signal. The LPA does not offer that feature so my other suggestion is out the window. I know there are a couple of other members that have that same receiver and use an amp with it.

Is there any way to split the 12v trigger so he can have one going to the belkin, and one going to the amp? Or would that reduce the signal too much?

you are absolutely right, i tried plugging into the belkin and when it powers up it just goes into standby mode. that idea is out the window also.

I missed this the first time through. jrgreene's way of doing it should work for you. If you get a universal 12v adapter and plug that into the trigger in on the amp and plug it into a switched outlet on the belkin or the back of the receiver you should be all set.

sounds good. so what i am looking to get, a 12V trigger wire on one side and on the other side of it will be a regular plug to plug into the receiver? where can i get one? radioshack? or is it some kind of adapter i need.

I picked one up at radio shack before for a different purpose and it worked fine. The one I bought was a universal and came with several adapter plugs to choose from. Under 15 bucks.

Plug it into your switched outlet on your receiver and the what I think is a 3.5mm mini plug into the amp.

I have a similar receiver/amp setup. I took the wall wart from an old cell phone an bought the mini jack and made my own adapter. As suggested, plug it in to the switched outlet of the receiver.

That's kinda lame. What's the point of pre-amp outs without a remote trigger? I know I would sure hate walking over to my amp every time I wanted to turn it on.

Emotiva trigger

So i bought the universal 12 volt. i pugged the 12V into my belkin switched outlet and the other 3.5mm jack into my emotiva. I turn on everything on and off and it does not trigger my emotiva?

does your receiver have a switched outlet on rear of it? i have my 12 volt adapter plugged into my receiver it triggers my emo amp

Did you turn the switch on the back of the Emotiva to Trigger?

yes it has 2. one of the plugs are taken up by the remote AC in from belkin. The remote goes from belkin to switched on receiver so that it can trigger all the switched on belkin. I cant connect the 12v adapter to the other switched on the reciever because the 12V adapter plug is bigger and cant fit near the plug from the remote plug from belkin

So i plugged in the 12V adapter to the back of my switched outlet on the receiver and plugged the 3.5mm jack into my LPA. when i turn my reciever on and off the receiver does nothing. I even turned on the lpa manually then turned off my reciever and lpa stays on?????
