The Belkin Pure AV Surge protector, is there away to turn off the Blue display light when not using it? When i power it down and it turns off all my other components the display light on the belkin stays on 24/7?

I just want to comment on this annoying trend towards using blue LEDs on every single piece of electronics equipment. I hate it.

I have the APC H10 which is similar in style and functionality to the Belkin Pure AV power conditioners. The dimmest setting isn't nearly dim enough for my taste but you can at least shut it all the way off. But then if the display is off you can't tell anything about the power state - it's a lose-lose situation.

The CE industry has adopted the 'me too' attitude. Once one of them added blue LEDs they all follow. I blame Harmon Kardon for starting the trend in receivers. Blue is the absolute worst color of all for an LED as our eyes are very sensitive to blue light. I actually read an interesting article where there has been some research that has linked Blue LEDs with sleep disorders. Enough already! At least give us the option to turn it off or way low in brightness. I'm thinking of buying new computer speakers precisely because I cannot turn off the damn blue LED.

I try to look on the bright side of things. When I can't sleep and I decide to go downstairs to watch TV for a while, the little lights provide enough illumination so that I can locate the remote and get things started. It saves my having to fool around with room lights.

I like the blue lights. My audio refinement gear, plus the monster power center are all red and green lights........looks like Xmas, or a stop and go light. My Denon and my Escient have the blue lights and I like it better than the red and greens......

I dont believe it helps picture or SQ, anyone who says it does may be experiencing the ever so common placebo effect!! He is right in saying the Blue display light does help if you get up in the middle of the night by acting s a night light.

My house is pitch black at night and the office looks like a space ship with all the different colored lights that are always glowing. Now with the APC H10 and its vast array of blue lights, the living room is starting to look similar.

Yes, it works as a night light. ;)

As with jamie's brother, Ive also used electrical tape to cover some annoyingly bright led's. For others that are only somewhat terrible, I used window tint. Works pretty well.

The only thing you have to make sure is that the tint does not cover any IR sensor, for the remote may not work in that case.

You can't turn it all the way off, but you can turn it WAY down.
