the general idea til i actually receive the PR:

23 x 15 x 38.5 (if possible, i'll go 22 x 15 x 38 or smallest i can go)

1" MDF

black things are supposed to be air pockets inside put there to kill enclosure volume and keep the weight heavy at the bottom and back ... i can fill up those pockets with "bracing" to add more weight.

and i will also add bracing around the drivers to kill some more volume.

Hey, I'm not sure I gave you authorized rights to that proprietary set of pics, that is my top secret pool table buddy... :D:D

That design looks pretty good...

How is the build coming on this setup? How does the driver model in a passive radiator system?

I hope to purchase the necessary MDF for my JL 12W7 home sub build in the next month here or so.

When I build it, I will post all the pics :)

I hope to see your progress here.

im waiting for the PR to arrive so I can measure actual dimensions of the PR. i want to go as narrow as possible, that and the fact funds are a bit tight. so ill wait for the PR to arrive before I buy the MDF. and then wait for the box to be finished before I buy the amp. i'm looking at either the Behringer EP2500 for a bridged mono 4ohm of 1600w OR d-sonic class d amp for 1000w at 4 ohms. (warpdrv posted that link, now i cant get these amps out of my head)

model? i dunno ... haha, here's to jumping into the DIY world head first blind folded :D seriously though, i modelled a slot ported box, but discovered that that was really too much trouble. so i bought warpdrv's PR without thinking. so i'll have to make it work no matter what.

did you see my helper? :)

looks good, ive been playing around with it for a couple of weeks now,(using the pic import to scale out the new dedicated ht room) pretty powerful for a freeware app.

i was taking pics from other rooms and importing them, adding furniture and accessories to get a depth scale of what we want for ours. Home theater shack

Question

I am finally asking a question I've had for awhile, why so many subs? Just curious!

well they do go to different rooms :) others flip through speakers, cars and what not ... i flip through subwoofers :)

pairs always sound best in terms of frequency reponse linearity.

if i do finish this DIY speaker, it will make this HT have three LFE subs :)

hopefully i won't need to DIY in the future and afford to just buy stuff off the shelves :D

but it will be fun to have my boy watching stuff with me. it's getting pretty hard to convince the wife to watch stuff with me :)

Hmmmm. Guess I'm being a bad influence on my 6 year old step son, I was putting together a dual 18" Horn sub for my commercial system and he was asking what corner of the livingroom we were putting it in, then we get in the pickup and I put the pedal down, and he tell me to go faster. Geez, what does it take to impress kids these days.
