universal remote mx-350 help

Hello all,

I need to buy a universal remote control for my system. The dealer offered me a price of $129 (for the new universal remote mx-350 not the OSIRIUS) and $120 for the rf base station. What do you think? Is anyone familiar with this remote and how reliable is it?

I have no experience with that remote but check out remote central.com. They have a huge review section and forum. HOWEVER, i bought the URC RF 30 and base station off ebay for under $100 for both not each and I love it.

I paid $125 about two years ago. Mine does say Osirus; are the new ones now branded simply MX-350? I gave mine to my sister and need to pick up another one real soon.

Which RF basestation are you talking about? I've seen the MRF-250 as low as $62 so $120 would be rather high if it is the MRF-250.

The new MX-350 has just MX-350 at the bottom instead of Osirius. I am not sure which base station the installer using. The reason I'm skeptical of buying from the store is universal remote doesn't provide the full software unless a professional programs it. I even spoke to a rep from universal remote. He said if it isn't programmed by a professional, the full potential will not be utilized.

The MX-350 is programmed directly on the remote and doesn't use the PC based software like the MX-850 and higher remotes.

The most time consuming part is figuring out what which functions you want where and labeling all the LCD buttons. After that, the actual learning from your original remotes goes very quickly.
