SVS coming out with a Plus-13?

1. All the "plus" box models except textured black are out of stock.
2. the Plus/2 was discontinued
3. It'd lower their costs by using the same boxes for the plus and ultra.

Anybody hear anything about this?

1. yup, I noticed that too
2. the plus/2 was obsolete because its price was too close to the PB13Ultra

Nope.... just awaiting their shipment of boxes so they can start rebuilding supply as far as I know....

I know someone was going to order one, and asked SVS directly about getting a plus, they said the Plus boxes were delayed 3 weeks until they would be able to ship again...

i guess its just a supply problem. which is also the reason why ALL the piano gloss subs are backordered.

I don't get the obsession with piano gloss. The shiny surface reflects light and can be very annoying. All my speakers are piano gloss. I tolerate them.

I'm glad I purchased back in Sept. when they had their overstock sale. I'm thinking the sale was a bit premature since they've had these supply issues.

i think they needed the space for the incoming order of ultras. (since all of those have been sold as well, im thinking there was no mistake)

Just a feeling.

I don't buy their "official line" that you list as 2 with price. The Plus/2 was always close in price to the Ultra (closer even before the ultra13) and still sold plenty well. Not to mention they also discontinued the NSD/2. Add the fact that the 12.3 driver is two years old and the competition has rapidly caught up (eD, Epik).

Part of me says they must have something up their sleeve. Of course, with the expansion in their product lines to include all sizes of speakers, maybe they've just lost their focus.

agreed, i think they've spent too much effort in getting the MTS and the upcoming LTS online.

but note that the plus/2 trumps the previous ultra in output (which is why it sold a lot of units) ... but now with the new ultra driver, the 13 ultra pretty much matches the plus/2 in output (and even exceeds it below 25hz)

but like you, i also think they're packing something they're about to announce soon :D
i did ask them though ... they're sticking to their story :)

I would kill to have a ultra 13/2 in my living room... the 20-39 PC+ shakes things enough as is, I can't imagine what anything more would do.

Yes i would have to order one of those, my wife would probley hate me for it, but that is a chance i would be willing to take.

i personally would like dual pb13's instead of 13/2 myself. kinda like two PB12's is better than the PB12/2

I agree with mike c, except that I don't have anywhere to put a second sub, so I have to make due with a single sub.

How would stacking two of them in the same place be better than having a sub with with dual drivers?

More internal cabinet space.....

A unit with dual drivers, ususally is a compromised design for size....

Like the Plus/2, is only a small amount of increased interal space over a single Plus unit, but contains 2 drivers, effectively reducing the tuning FR.

The Natural tune of a single Plus is 20hz, where the natural tune of the Plus/2 is 25hz. Plugging 2 ports yields a 16hz tune on the Plus/2 where plugging 2 ports on the Plus yields a tune of 12hz... its more efficient with a larger enclosure.

Like the JL Audio F113, dual F113 units will gain a small amount of SPL over the Gotham.... Personally I would rather have dual non-collocated units to smooth room response over stacked anyday... Any and all of these units will likely produce more SPL then most normal people would need, and would be better utilized in smoothing out the room nodes that is a more common problem then not...
