Looking to purchase a pair of VERY sturdy/heavy speaker stands, about 30" in height.

If you have a pair for sale, please contact me via PM or e-mail. Please include approximate top and bottom plate dimensions and approximate weight per stand. A picture would be really helpful.

Thanks

Get the high mass stands from Parts Express. Nothing I have seen is more sturdy. Part number 240-744. They are 24", but with the included spikes mine measure 26". They are 26lbs each, unfilled - I use them because my bookshelf speakers are 38lbs each. Those stands from SVS are Sanus and they are not heavy at all.

Here is a pic:

Thanks for the suggestion j_garcia. I looked at those Dayton high mass stands. But they are 24". I need something that is at least 28".

And your speaker looks GORGEOUS! What kind of speakers are they?:D

Yeah, I checked out the GR Research page. That's one cool looking speaker there. Too bad I don't have any wood working skills.

That speaker looks REALLY good. How does it sound?

They sound better than the look IMHO :D I got a pair from them to demo and within minutes of listening I knew I had found my next set of speakers. They are all about midrange clarity and detail. It would cost me a lot more to get something similar or better in a retail speaker.

Everything JG has was made in his garage from left over toasters, microwaves and water heaters...
Hahaha. I didn't build these guys, I bought them from GR's cabinet maker a few years back. I used to talk to him a lot and he happened to be selling his personal pair when I was looking to buy and he built me a matching center to go with them in that great looking cherry. My surrounds are the same thing except in black.

So does GR Research sell finished speakers? I only saw speaker kits on their website.

I am really tempted to get a finished pair. What kind of tweeter does that speaker use? Soft dome? Metal? And how heavy is each speaker? Looks like they are really heavy. And are they rear ported?

Yes, they are rear ported. The tweeter is a soft dome. All drivers are built to GR's specs. I don't know if they are still selling finished sets, you'd have to contact them about that. Salk was selling them complete at one point. www.salksound.com But it doesn't look like they are any longer.

If they are not real expensive, those Lovan stands look pretty cool and sometimes thats worth a little extra.

Yeah I almost bought those M2's to mate with my Paradigm Sig S4's in my bedroom...

They are just downright sexy looking stands, but I ended up going with the Paradigm stands that I can actually screw my speakers directly too....

For me that was the deciding factor for me, that there would be some structural integrity there...
