It depends on the mastering/mix. I have found both formats to be quite excellent, but quality varies from disc to disc (album).

Both are outstanding formats, and I can't tell the difference between either of them.

What J. said is quite true, if you have a garbage master you will have a garbage cd, sacd, dvda.

But I love all of my sacd's & dvda's.

Thank you, it seems that the DVDA is a bit cheaper but if they sound as good that is the way to go, i am sure that they both have different artists though so you kind of have to buy both to get what you want.

$50 huh? Ouch! I bought Neil Young's Harvest on DVD-A probably for around $25 a couple of years ago and recently read somewhere that it was going for $66 IIRC. The cool thing with DVD-A is that there is video interaction. For example, with that recording I was able to view the chicken scratch hand written lyrics and was able to view the credits and see who the back up vocalists are AND could see what studio the track was recorded in.

Yep, it took me two years to figure that out. :)

The Japanese export thing is suppose to be of a better quality. Where did you order it from?

I like SACD's over DVD-A's because they're often hybrids which you can use in your car or whatever.

I can't imagine paying $50 for one album, no matter what format.

I like hybrid SACDs best for that reason, too. They also are better for use in my SACD changer, as they play like CDs, whereas DVD-A's play like DVDs—that is, they first load up a menu, and after playback, load up the menu again. So to play the next disc, I have to tell my changer to go to the next disc. But with SACDs, when the disc finishes, it just switches to the next disc automatically, just the same as if it were a CD.

Since you like Billy Joel CK, you should definately add this one to your collection. I have it in mine.

Absolutely, The Stranger on SACD is just incredible, both the quality of the recording and the surround mix are virtually without flaw in my opinion.

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant is just a treat.

At $14.99 it should not be passed up. Find one or two more SACD's from Amazon and get your cart over $25 and it's free shipping too.
