I'm considering purchasing a Yamaha RX-V863 to add surround sound to my Hitachi 57" rear projection HDTV. It is an older model that has a maximum resolution of 1080i. Currently I have a Dish Network HD receiver connected to the TV via an HDMI to DVI cable and sound via sound out jacks. This works fine.

If I connect the HDTV to the RX-V863 using the HDMI to DVI cable, will it automatically send out the correct resolution of 1080i? Also I like the idea of it being able to up-convert from composite video to HDMI. I looked at the V863 manual online, but I didn't see where the HDMI resolution could be selected.

After researching other threads, maybe what I really need is the RX-V663.
The same question applies here as well with the 663.
