Outdoor Remote Volume controllers - Impedance

I need to order these. All I want to do is control volume. 4 wires in and 4 out.

The web site I am looking at has Impedance matiching and just plain old Volume control. Can some one tell me why I should buy impedance matching? I just want to be able to tuen these down when my wife joins me in the hot tub. Thanks!!!

You would want the impedance matching VC if you will have multiple pairs of speakers on the same channel. For example, if your receiver has a single Zone 2 speaker output but you want to have speakers in the patio and the kitchen you'd need the impedance matching VC. If you know there will only be one pair, like the patio, then the normal one will be fine.

agian with the light dimmer, get one then, you keep asking for help, you get it and then another direction. The 1st post on this answered your question. I linked the installation manual and the orginal post to nextag for a niles imp matching weatherproof vc. Sorry to be blunt but this is your post history

MDS did answer my simple question and I thanked him and you.
Regarding my dimmer question; no one has answered that and since MDS provided an answer to this post, I decided to put this to him (and quoted him) .

I suggest you read the posted questions a little closer if you enjoy helping others in here. I also suggest that you might want to consider moving out of your parents basement or at least go outdoors and toss a frizby once a week.

basemets are hard to come by in south florida,and both of my parents have passed and the manual does explain the impedence issue with a chart and google impedence for a explaination of what it is. I suggest YOU read the manual. I do enjoy helping others if i can, and yes i read your post history to make sure i didnt miss something. So this will be the extent of my help for you, if someone else wishes to take their time answer you questions for you over and over so be it.

No a light dimmer will not work. A light dimmer is a silicon controlled rectifier device. It needs a source of power, 120 volts AC! Not an amp output. And yes you do have the information you need. All of it.

This is my response in your first thread!

"First off a VC is stereo and controls 2 channels of audio. Second, the inexpensive dimmers work by clipping off a portion of the AC waveform. Clipping = Bad for speakers.

I would recommend an impedance matching VC from Phoenix Gold or similar for about $25. With the screened in pourch, the weatherproof enclosure probably wont be necessary."
