Still need more Help Please.

Hi everyone this my be kind of a stupid question but i got my new reciver and just want to make sure that my blu-ray is hooked up to it right so i get the Hd sound so with that said my questions are

1. Do i select Digital Output -- Bitstream or PCM

2. PCM downsampling --- ON or OFF

3. Dynamic Compression-- ON or OFF

My reciver is a Pioneer VSX-94TXH

i think you are supposed to set to PCM out ...
the other two I don't know.

1) depends on whether you want the player or the receiver to decode. I would set it to Bitstream and let the receiver decode.

2) Set it downsampling to off.

3) Turn the compression off.

Still need more help please.

Ok i set up my blu-ray how i was told but i was wondering how do i get my True HD light or the DTS Master light to come on, now the Dolby Digital light is on, or is that how it is supposed to be. Thanks

What disc are you playing? Does it contain True HD? the receiver will only show what it is receiving.

It is the Messengers (Blu-ray) i could be wroung but i thought all Blu-ray movies were True HD?
I don't think that one has it. And no not all will have HD sound.
To be sure go into the set-up/audio settings of the dics and see if Dolby True HD is an option. I'm willing to bet it has Dolby Digital Plus at best.

Ok thanks for the info, i have seen True HD on it before but i thught i changed something and messed it up but it must have just been the disc i was watching, do you know what blu-rays have the True HD forsure? or a few of them anyways.

Nope. That would be a quesion for some body else. If you notice my sig, I don't own a BD player.
