Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

Simply amazing. I happen to catch the CMT Crossroads special as it was coming on last Saturday morning. Such a cool and intriguing sound from an unusual duo.

I was hoping to see them in concert but, by the time I realized they were going to be close, the last seats available at the Asheville Civic Center are way up in the balcony.

I'll be purchasing the album, Raising Sand, soon.

It is a great CD. I would buy a live DVD if they made one.

Me too. I wonder why CMT doesn't do that with the Crossroads series. They've had some pretty interesting duos that you never would've put together yet, they sound great.

Plant and Krauss is certainly not a pairing I would ever have thought of, but it works.

I've seen that cd on Amazon and was wondering if it was worth a purchase. Sounds like you think it is. With the Black Crowes coming out with a new Cd I only need to find a third for free shipping. I haven't prchased any music since the Eagles album so it is about time. Maybe tonight.:)

Initially, I agreed with Greg Gable, but this disk has been growing on me after a couple listens. I didn't like it at first (probably recalling Plant's definitive shrieking with Led Zeppelin; the birth of metal) but the strangeness of T Bone Burnett's characteristic laid back production puts a edge on this mellow material that makes it interesting. I prefer Allison with Union Station, but she does OK here, a fine supporting role for Plant and Burnett.

Ditto. I like them both separately, but can't get into this CD. Maybe I have to listen to it some more.

It is different than what either of them do on their own. It is a new sound that they have created together.

I bought today and have been listening to it all day. I've really been enjoying most of it but ,then again I'm a fan of old "Americana" style of music.
You can tell it's a T-bone production...which is not a bad thing.
I think it has kind of a "Bodeans" or an "Everly Brothers" feel about and it also reminds me of the "Cowboy Junkies" with a more upbeat sound and as much has I've liked Margo Timmins vocals, Alison Krauss is well...Alison Krauss and Robert Plant seems to give each song just the right version of Robert Plant.

I first heard this on my main rig and couldn't deal with it at all. It's been in the work truck since then and it sounds pretty good. Kudos to them for pairing up for the recording, it's just not my cup of tea.

Iron and Wine?....well that's another animal.
