Yes, the HD, which isn't, is broadcast with FM signals largely and some AM. Good radio reception both analog and digital starts with a good roof antenna.

Winegard are the best. I had one last over 25 years, in the harsh conditions of the ND Red River Valley.

I already have an HD TV antenna on the roof and I'm not sure I want two antennas up there. Is it possible to use a splitter to send one cable to the TV and the other to the receiver w/o destroying the signal quality?

A splitter will be fine, you will loose 3db of signal to the TV and HD radio. Unless you are in marginal area, this will not matter a bit.

By your reply, I'm assuming there's a specific one you suggest? There are quite a few on that page and besides the elements and measurements, I'm not sure what the difference is. Please excuse my ignorance

Actually, most HDTV is broadcast over the UHF band. While that Winegard antenna is, assuming it has adequate range for the target stations, an excellent VHF/FM antenna, it lacks the all-important UHF band upon which HDTV thrives.

I think a similar VHF/UHF/FM antenna might be better suited for this purpose.
