i currently have a hdtv-ps3 and hd cable box.ps3 with hdmi to hdtv--- hd cable box witth hdmi to hdtv.now im using up both of my hdmi inputs on the tv .now if i buy buy a receiver with 2 hdmi inputs and one out put how would i hook all this up properly?would i put the ps3 into receiver and hd cable box into receiver then with the only hdmi out put on receiver to hdtv?would this be the proper way i really have no clue im just trieng to picture it in my head. and lets assume i get the right receiver thats not hdmi pass through only, but the one that works the audio on the ps3 and cable aswell. when im changing sources how does that work would i need to change the source on the tv and the reciever if i want surround sound on the source that i switched to or what?
and if so can i be able to listen to music and watch tv with no volume on tv? im pretty lost i dont even know if im asking the right questions just trying to get started thanks for any help.....4 got what does the hdmi switching do is that for the sources?

You need to buy a receiver with fully HDCP compliant inputs (repeater architecture). Make sure you have enough HDMI inputs for everything you have that outputs in HDMI, and preferably an extra one in case you buy something else. Then connect ALL sources to the receiver, and run one HDMI cable form the receiver to TV. Correctly set and enable your HDMI inputs and video and audio will switch together. Simple.
