HDMI Issue or something else?

I have an aquos 46" lcd that originally was hooked up this way with no picture problem:
component from Cable box to AVR
component from AVR to TV

The tv was set to dot by dot instead of stretch and the picture filled the screen perfectly. no issues.

When i bought a new HDMI Cable from Monoprice -
(HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 6ft (Gold Plated)

I hooked that up to go directly from the Cable box to the TV bypassing the AVR.
Now when it is on Dot by dot there is a green vertical line running from top to bottom on the far right side of the tv and there was also a line of what looked like interference going across the top of the screen. I dont know how else to describe that.
When i switched it to stretch it all went away but thats not the proper setting for a high def channel to display on.
Any idea why this happened? is it the cable?

Use that cable and switch back to passing through the AVR. If it still does it, then it is not the cable (my guess is it isn't).

did you try another input, is the cable running in wall, does the component have the problem now, did you hook the component direct, did you unplug both peices of equipment and make the connections again with the power off

I tried the diff input last night...same thing. this is on all verizon fios HD channels. It does not happen with the component hooked up direct to the tv or through the avr. I didnt unplug the cable box but i will try that tonight along with the tv and see what happens.
The cable is not running in wall (yet)

I seem to remember there was a previous post on that, stating those aquos TVs are known for that.

I also see the same thing on my Samsung in "just scan"
mode. Try setting the cable box output to 720P, this
worked for me.

i understand but the thought was a firmware bug with that setting is what affected the signal with the hdmi. there seems to be alot issues with the "green line" and fios service.

HDMI is great when it takes over control to your tv scaling...

Make sure the output resolution options are all selected on the cable box so it doesn't try to scale anything and just pass along the show's native HD format. That way, your tv won't try to rescale a scaled image.

Or just stick to componnents. You should still get the full HD format with these.
