MIT - AVt Universal Speaker Interface Module

Hi,

I am currently in search of a new hi-fi system. I have focused in on a 2 channel set up with the follow gear - Rotel seperates - Dynaudio speakers.

I am going to have a pretty long run of speaker wire from the amp to the speakers (about 50 feet of wire per speaker). Because of budget constraints I am forced to go with wire that is $1.50 a foot. SO...lower end wire. (sorry not sure of the manufacturer)

If I was to add an MIT - AVt Universal Speaker Interface Module (shown here - http://www.mitcables.com/?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&category_id=131&Itemid=29&product_id=5

What kind of improvements could I expect? Would it be better to upgrade to a slightly better speaker wire or to just slap a set of the MITs onto the cheaper wire?

Thanks!!:D

Forget MIT and their voodo crap, invest in better quality cables (bluejeans.com or monoprice.com) you'll save 100.00+ dollars and you'll get better results.

Thanks Strat, that helped a lot. From the looks of some other threads it seems like most of the forum considers upgraded wire to be a bit of a snake oil sales pitch.

You say you have budget constraints, why would you spend less on cabling so you could add those very expensive things? Just get some 12 gauge wire and be done with it.:D

I have the option of getting the previous version at a rate of $40 a piece. Basically I don't want to pay much more than $200 for wire. So my question was basically do I

a) Go with wire that is $1.50 a foot and add on the MIT boxes

or

b) Go with wire that is $2.50 - $3.00 a foot.

Hope that explains it better for you.

Go to home depot, lowes, any hardware store and get as much 12 gauge wire you want for cheap, and it won't sound any different than the speaker wire you are looking at getting, trust me.

A popular, but more costly recommendation, is bluejeanscables.com. It will cost more than just getting some wire (that sounds no different) at your local hardware store, but at least it won't be outrageously expensive.

You can expect little to no improvement at all from wire alone. $200 better mean for an entire 6.1/7.1 system... I tried Audioquest Type 4 wire which is something like $5 a foot for a few months in my 2ch rig. When I switched to various other wires of far lower cost, there was no meaningful difference.

Thanks to both of you. That is great news! I feel I can comfortably budget my money towards other parts of the system now!:D

That's a very good perspective to take, you could opt for better speakers, or room treatments now for real SQ improvements.:)
