Advice appreciated on Plasma wall mount...

Hi All
I was looking into a cantilever/articulating swivel mount for a 50" panny plasma-100lbs.
The last time I looked into these there weren't too many available, basically the Omnimount for mucho bucks. Thankfully they have come down in price the past year or so but there are also quite a few more choices. My head is now swiveling.

I need one that would be easy to change the postition with just one hand, my husband had a motorcycle accident several years ago and has no use of left arm/hand. Some reviews stated some are harder to re-position than others, some said they just used some type of lubricant to fix it.
I was looking at the Omnimount Dual Arm Wishbone, the Peerless Smartmount, Peerless HG series Plav60 and the Premier Mount Universal Swing Out AM3. Although I have the 50" I want one that will hold bigger/heavier for future upgrade.
Also at Sam's Club they have some from Creative Concepts and Levelmount. I'm not familiar with these companies, the prices are great, but not sure about the quality. I'm the type that if it says use 4 bolts, I'll use 8. Whatever it is, it won't be coming off the wall. Hubby calls me OverKill. But I just like to sleep at night without fear of one of the dogs being crushed:eek:

I would greatly appreciate any opinions from those of you who have these type mounts.
Take care, Teresa ; )

the design series from omni mount(uclx i think) "look" good and the are pricey, but i dont think i would want to chance a tv comming down due price:). Most of the other swing arms seem to mechanical in appearance.

I just bought a swivel and tilt mount for a little over $100US for my 42" plasma from Armour Mount.

Well made and a very good price considering the quality.

This one is a little pricey and not sure if it would break the bank on you or not, but considering your husband's situation, it might be worth taking a look at.

OmniMount Motion52 Motorized Flat panel wall mount

You may be able to find this cheaper elsewhere online, but this model is fully motorized and even comes with a remote control so he can sit on the couch and swivel the TV at the press of a button. :)

OmniMount is a proven brand too, the company I used to work for did a lot of commercial A/V installations, and aside from Chief mounting solutions, OmniMount was the second most utilized mounting solution we used for a wide variety of applications. You won't have to fear the TV falling down, as long as it is anchored to the wall correctly. ;)

I have checked these out with 46" sony mounted up, its nice and sturdy. A little on the high side of the $$ scale, but when i get into my new home it will be a item i will purchase. It seems that the stands are getting more and more like the cables. The bigger the store the higher the price. hope this helps.

Peace,
Tommy

Thank you all for the replies and suggestions.
The price differences online and in stores within the same type products is unbelievable.
It makes me ill to think how much the basic mount we have cost 2 years ago.
That Omni motion mount is a great price compared to others I've looked into.... Then I saw it states 95lb max. Mine weighs more, not much at all but more all the same :(

Omnimount has very well made products. I purchased their Moda series wall mount component shelves a while ago, great quality, sturdy, thick glass shelves and great looking too. For about 1/3 of what the big box stores wanted.

Before I make a decision I suppose I should go up to Sams and see if they have theirs on display. Anything I've bought from them home improvement wise in the past has always been very good quality.
The internet is fantastic for comparing & ordering products, but it sure makes you lazy.....have to get off the butt sometimes or we'll turn to mush :p

Many thanks,
Teresa

Well, here's a link to the Chief version of the automated mount - this one does claim support of up to 170 pounds and a 61" TV. Not sure of the cost, but being that it is made by Chief, expect to pay a handsome sum of money for it. ;)

I would hazard a guess that this one would run close to $1500. You can't order these directly from the website either as they are a 'dealer only' type outfit - you can find them for sale by running a google search on the model number and find somewhere they are sold. This one even has the added functionality of being integrated into a system controller, such as AMX or Crestron should you ever go down that road in the future, but does come with the IR remote and stores presets for convenience.
