Hello, im new to the forums. i found this site while searching for a decent price on an HDMI cable thats capable of 1080p. I was recently quoted a price of over $500, for (2) 25' male to male HDMI cables and (2) 25' component video cables. This quote came from Best Buy. To say the least, i was shocked. I refuse to pay that much money for 100 ft of video cable. I have been looking for alternative places to shop. With what little i know of the different brands out there, I was banking on the fact, some HDMI Gurus frequent this forum, and are willing to help.

Wich of these 2 cables are worthy of a 46" LCD Sharp 1080p monitor?

DVIGear 7.5m HDMI High Resolution Copper Cable or
Product code: SKU: 10179

7M ( 23FT ) ATLONA FLAT HDMI CABLE ( BLACK COLOR ). HDMI 1.3b Certified
SKU: ATF14031B-7

Also im in the process of wiring my Home for A/V. The house is being built daily, Im doing the wiring so im gonna have to run 2 HDMI cables to the monitor or 1 HDMI to the monitor and use a HDMI switcher at the Satellite and Blueray. So whats the best methode. Save the $$ on the second HDMI cable and buy a HDMI switcher ? Or bite the bullet and give the Blueray and the satellite its own HDMI cable? Thank you for your comments in advance.

Peace,
Tommy

You think those guys gave you sticker shock, there are companies that charge THOUSANDS for the same amount of product and it may be slightky better but nothing is worth that much!

Thank you Matt and Mike, The responses were Lightening fast, If you guys had to pick a single brand Cable what would it be? Im leaning toward the BJC Series-1 Belden Bonded-Pair HDMI and HDMI/DVI Cables. Im looking at the prices of wall plates at Monoprice.com and they are as low as ive seen yet.

Thanks guys,
Tommy

i've only tried bluejeanscable, i haven't tried the other brands matt mentioned. i'm the type of person who does not switch suppliers - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" works for me.

i personally bought the series 2 from BJC because it was their best at the time ... rest assured the new series 1 bonded pair should be a better performer.

forgot to mention that I also have the series 2 HDMI/DVI cable 20-25' in length I use from my PC to my LCD TV. crystal clear pics as compared to standard VGA cables.

I have a 35' HDMI cable from Monoprice and it works great. It's a 22 AWG cable and it's very thick and sturdy. I haven't purchased cables from Blue Jeans so I can't comment. I paid about $60 for my cable.

I've used cables from both blue jeans and monoprice. The blue jeans cables seem to be constructed a bit better, but both have worked perfectly fine for me.

I have used the 50' 22ga. HDMI cable from Monoprice with no problems. As mentioned, it is thick and requires a bit wider bend radius. I also ordered the wall plates with speaker connectors and one with an F connector and was very pleased with the quality and price. After many orders, I'm a confirmed Monoprice shopper !:)

I got 28 pairs of the banana plugs as well :p Thanks for all of the advice from you guys, i was about to make a $500+ mistake at Best Buy. I cant believe those guys take advantage of folks like that. Now all i need is for someone to tell me a good place to pick up a 46"-50" Sony or Sharp LCD monitor.

There are quite a few places online to get decent cable inexpensively. I usually buy from www.partsexpress.com and get some of their cheapest. I am using shorter runs than you, but their very cheap HDMI certified v1.3 works perfectly. You can get 6' for less than $10. Paying more for that length is throwing away money, but a lot of people like to do that to have pretty wires that they believe possess magical powers.

I have not tried their longer versions, but they sell a 33' HDMI ATC Certified v1.3 wire for less than $20:

But if you like throwing away money, go elsewhere and pay more. Or, you can also throw away money at Parts Express, too, as they will be happy to sell you more expensive wires, if you wish.

Monoprice!

I swear by Monoprice! They are the best I have found. The look, feel and response to Monster cable is virtually identical at a tenth of the cost....

Cheers,
Darin
