heres a few pics of my install guys, i've also listed a breakdown of what i've got and what im going to get shortly!

-first purchased sherwood audio receiver, 5disc carosel and 2 X isp-5500 floor standing speakers for $160 delivered on ebay

-next step i found a brand new wintal 7.1 av receiver on ebay for $370 delivered, so i decided to purchase it!!

-about 2 weeks ago i found some matching speakers for my fronts which would be unreal on the rears. they are sherwood dss-280c's and i got them for $90 for the pair delivered.

-and just today my yamaha ns-c125 centre speaker turned up which was brand new at $95 delivered.

i also purchased a 1m optical cable for the digital audio from my ps2 (which i use for dvd's) to my receiver, this was $12 delivered, and i also purchased 10metres of 14G oxygen free speaker wire for $32 delivered.

total cost so far has been: $760.. hmm not so cheap anymore haha!!!

next on the list is probabaly a yamaha sub if i can get one for under $250 delivered.. and within about 2-3months i hope i have a 42" lcd to compliment everything (if i can find a clearance/demo for around $1300). Then i will be upgrading my main's to probably some JBL 890's and moving the sherwood floor standing's to the rear and using the other sherwoods for my centre rear's.

at the moment the sound is AWSOME for music yet im still fine tuning it my best performance on digital with dvd's.

heres a few pics, and any ideas and recommendations are welcome and appreciated - im getting some stands made up for the rear speakers but im unsure how high i should make them for best sound???

enjoy :)

ohh i dont want to permanently mount anything yet as im renting a unit off my parents and looking at buying a house over the next couple years.

Looks like a good start. You've got me wondering if you could get wires behind the brick wall to mount a flat screen. That would be sweet.

BTW, what's the story behind Wintal? Aussie, I presume. Is it related to another commercial brand or a stand-alone company?

thanks guys, yeah wintal are just a stand alone brand as far as i know - here is there website if you want to check it out: http://wintal.com.au/

the receiver i bought is actually the first one they made, and im fairly happy with it, although when i've upgraded some more components i'll probabaly get myself a yamaha receiver as well.hmm, not sure about wires through that brick wall maybe i should have a think about it..

im also wondering how i should reposition my unit to fit another sofa in here, i will have to draw up a diagram when i get time and see what i could do..

Never heard of the Wintal brand. Looks like a robust receiver though.

yeah it seems to be! although when i bought it new - off ebay - the remote worked for a day and then stopped!! i rang the company up and they said it fine so i simply sent it to off to the warranty place and they sent me a brand new one - no questions asked!

heres a bit of a write up on the particular one i got :)

Apparently that receiver is made by the same company as Cambridge Audio receivers are made according to the article. The newer Wintal receivers are made by that same company that made the Insignia brand receivers (the ones from last year) for Best Buy back in the states, at least it appears very much so. The configurations are the same, as are the features. The name was Chinese and very long, I wouldn't dare try to spell it.:D

It looks like you got lucky with the Wintel you got holden, it's a very hefty receiver (19kg or so, which amounts to around 40 pounds). You definitely owe it to yourself to upgrade your speakers when you get the chance.:)

wow awsome, thanks for that, one of my mates who sells this stuff all the time said they dropped wintal as they were getting a lot of returns due to them stuffing up, although thankfully mine seems fine at the moment.

one thing i did notice hwoever, is when i mute it, all the speakers mute except for the left hand surround speaker.. im not to worried however as i dont need to mute it anyway!

That's an interesting problem. I would be weary of other Wintal gear in the future, you might not get as lucky again.:)

That setup looks so much better than your old setup with the big AV cabinet.
