Dang ACCU, It took me about 10 minutes to put mine together, hook it up and play a song. What the heck were you doing that took 2 hours? If you had it in the bed with you and you were naked, then keep it to yourself!
Greg, you PERV!:D

It's just that lately my mind is usually off to some distant places. I did not want to finish the whole thing and then have to open it back up to change something later. It's a one time thing. No, not a one night stand, greg!

Very nice - but the big question......

How does it compare to the Acurus amps?
It sounds the same.

All amps will sound the same as long as they have sufficient power, ruler flat frequency response, low noise & THD, low output impedance, and low crosstalk/high channel separation.

I think they will differ in build quality, fit & finish, and GAIN.

I think the voltage gain is where all the perceived differences occur. If amp A sounds lower in volume (lower gain) than amp B, the impression is that amp B (higher gain) sounds BETTER than amp A. But if we were to volume match the amps, they would sound identical.

Verdict: the Acurus amps have HIGHER GAINS than the MPS-2. Thus, the volume output for the MPS-2 is a little lower than the Acurus. However, after increasing the volume of the RL-11 preamp by 1 or 2 dB, both the MPS-2 and Acurus amps sounded IDENTICAL: NEUTRAL and GREAT.

So all you gained was more rack room and "auto-on"?

I thought we discussed this and decided against it??????? Have your wife call me as something is so wrong with you:eek:
***hee**hee**:D

Yes, something is wrong with me. I have multiple personality: one part Acu, one part DefTech, one part Guy.

The Acu & Guy parts agreed that it was a bad idea to waste good money on the BP7001SCs for surround speakers. They believed that the money for the BP7001SCs could be used towards a HD projector. Very smart. Very rational. Very sane. Very normal thinking.

But the DefTech part became dominant when I stopped taking my antipsychotic medications.:D

Next thing I remember, these 48" towers were sitting in my HT room.:D

But seriously, I think the BP7001SCs as Surround speakers helped for some 5.1 recorded music -- like DVD-A, SACD, and DTS-CD. For 5.1 movies, they don't help as much.

So what are you doing with the BP10s you had as surround speakers? Let me know when you want to get rid of your center channel for a full range tower speaker.

I returned the BP10Bs for a full refund since it was < 30 days.

Well, if Def Tech were to make a bigger, badder CLR, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The only way I could get another BP7000SC as a center is if I build a new house (new bigger, badder HT room, HD Projector, 130" screen, etc.), which won't happen for probably another 2 years.

So I think I'm done with speakers upgrade for at least 2 more years.

My next purchase will be the Panasonic DMP-BD50 just so I can get DTS-MA. I think I will keep my BD10A for the DVD-Audio. I wish there were a true universal machine that could play BD, HD DVD, SACD, DVD-A, TrueHD, and DTS-MA.
