Hi,

I have all my components in a closed cabinet and want to use a universal remote (i.e. Harmony 880) to control everything. I currently have a reciver, HD-DVD, Dish box, and cable box. What kind of IR setup do i need to make this work? Since, I don't believe my remote will work through the cabinet doors, and I don't want to leave them open to get the remote to work.

cheers;)

You didn't mention what your cabinet fronts are made of. It won't go through wood but if the fronts are made of glass the Logitech 880 will work. Mine does. Cheers.

can that model go RF? My dads Harmony 1000 remote can go RF with a small upgrade package and that will go thru anything.

I could be wrong but the RF upgrade is only available for 890 and higher models .

I use Speakercraft products for my IR kit.

IRE1.0 - Emitter (one per device)
IRC2P2.1 - IR receiver (safe for plasmas)
AT1.0 - Amplifier terminated unit
PS1.0 - Power supply for the AT1.0

looking at getting the Harmony, but don't own one yet

Hope that helps...I used the 880 as example, since i've heard good things about it, but would be willing to accept the 890 if I can get around the solid door issue and the total cost of the solution is cheaper.
