Thanks for the reply.
What are your views on the z -2300's? Or are there better speakers out there for a similar price?
I don't have a view. I would not be in the market for an item like that. Really it is impossible to comment on the quality, usefulness or reliability of a lot of items discussed on this site. I would say what ever is for sale is the best, it always is!
I picked that line up from Tim Henning, now retired, of Tim's outboard repair, on Deep Portage Lake MN.
Tim has an encyclopedic knowledge of outboard motors. He is a highly skilled mechanic and machinest. If you prepared your ground he was a great teacher. I leaned a lot from Tim. One day I was over there to get parts for the lower unit an outboard that the husband of my office nurse had inherited from his father.
While Tim was carefully going over the anatomy of the lower unit and guiding me through the repair, we were interrupted by Tim's wife, who said there was a man on the phone wanting to know what brand of outboard motor he should buy. He wanted to know out of Mercury, Evinrude, Mariner and Yamaha which would be the best.
Tim said, "Tell him whatever the salesman has for sale is the best, it always is." Then he turned to me and said, " How to I know? Until they start coming in here broken down I have no idea which ones are any good."
As I was leaving a guy came in with a Mariner, about two years old, with a locked up engine. Tim told him, "That was no good the day it left the factory. After I rebuild the engine it will still be a bad motor, so I'm not going to waste my time and your money rebuilding it"
It's pretty much the same with any purchased item unless it has a long track record of excellence.
I wish Tim well in his retirement, but now the units are trying to get into my shop! I try not to give into pressure, but sometimes I weaken.
